Survivor: Nicaragua (CBS) | Season 21
I was surprised to see there was no dedicated thread already! So a nice season opener. Not much to say as usual, but I kinda wish Wendy wasn't the first one to go. Despite the whole mental outbreak at the tribal she seemed like a good person.
Oh and did their preview just managed to spoil the immunity tribal for the next episode. It was way obvious from Probst's comment who was the losing tribe.
SEASON 21 RATINGS

21.03 Glitter In Their Eyes 12.262 million viewers :: 3.5 A18-49

 Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
Would he use the word whoopass while talking to an older crowd? If anything Probst knows his way with words very well. In fact he's one of the wittier persons on TV I think. And while on regular episodes all that can be edited, he had a lot of great snaps during those live reunion episodes which really confirms my opinion.
I'm guessing it's Fabio and the black female who are whoopassing each other in the tribal. They showed them having a fight too.

 Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
Did any one else find the immunity challenge boring. It was a straight line with someone pouring water. I read the ew article about it and apparently that's now how the thought the challenge would go

Yes it was a bit boring. They should've displaced the barrel and put some obstacles so that they would need to form a curved line or something.

That lady did herself in, and in a very huge way. What a complete breakdown at tribal council, lol.
This famous coach is literally the most randomly casted person ever on Survivor. What the heck?

 Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
Yay Survivor, just watched the premiere. I still eat this show up, 21 seasons in. I have a hard time believing Nicaragua will be as entertaining as Heroes vs. Villains was, but the premiere was pretty entertaining.
I like how the "young people" are all 29 and younger, and the "old people" (lol) are 40 or older. I guess everyone in their 30s can go suck it.
First impression:
Man, Goat Lady Wendy was kinda nuts. She seems sweet but totally grating. I'm not sure I could've handled more than one episode of her, so thank you for voting her out, "old people." Also seemingly nuts on Team Old? Cray Cray Fisherman Jimmy.
I'm so glad Russell finally isn't on this show anymore, although he seems to have been replaced in the camera hog department by Coach Jimmy Johnson. The casting of whom really seems to take stunt casting to a whole new level. He seems like a perfectly fine person but I know I will get aggravated if the entire season is focused around him.
Jane, of Team Old, caught my eye already. She seems to have her stuff together. Namely actually building fire all by her lonesome, which was pretty awesome.
Tyrone seems cool too. The vibe I get, at least.
Jud/"Fabio"...oy. Something tells me he's probably not as stupid as he's being portrayed, but still. The guy who dubbed him Fabio in the first place (Shannon?) seems like an asshole.
Brenda seems to have been cast as this season's version of Parvati. Namely, Hot Girl Who Manipulates Men and Gets Shit Done. Let's see if she lives up to it.
I also liked Amputee Kelly (no, I will not call her that all season), she seems pretty kickass and focused. I hope her tribe isn't lame and votes her out early out of fear of "sympathy votes" (whatever).
The younger tribe has some crazy names going on: NaOnka, Sash, BENRY (Benry?!). This is going to take some adjusting.
Calling it the Medallion of Power is so lame. lol the name just makes me giggle, who came up with that?

I think The Amazing Race is still light years in front of Survivor when stunt casting is concerned.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua (CBS) | Season 21
I like Jimmy Johnson. Hopefully he stays around a while.
I watched the full ep tonight and the young team lost. From this one episode, I can tell ya'll I hate the black chick. She has attitude all over herself and she's mouthy and she steals. Kick the bitch off.
The Shannon guy I didn't mind as much till that trial council and he starts going off like a maniac on everybody. His alliance is telling him to cool it but he can't stop and starts going with the gay attack and blah blah blah. He screwed himself.
During the council, Jeff brings attention to the black chick and she exposes her hatred and annoying attitude for all to see...Again. I was hoping that Fabio would have put her name down just because, but he kept with the gameplan that failed.
Targetting Brenda was such a mistake. Kick off the black chick. That would have unified the team because maybe 1 person likes her, if that. Wasted opportunity for the other alliance. Now they are in trouble of being picked off one by one until the merge. We shall see.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua (CBS) | Season 21
Last night was one of the most entertaining episodes of Survivor ever, probably. I feel like the casting people picked the batshit crazy types you usually see on Big Brother for this season.
There was so much insanity rolled into one hour. First, on Team Old, we get Holly losing her marbles randomly over the snails and then stealing that dude's shoes (is she trying to be a more wishy-washy Russell or something?). Bitch be crazy. And Fisherman Jimmy is still all grizzled and looks like he's going to kill someone soon.
Coach Jimmy Johnson still has way too much camera time but he's likable and smart, so it's not as easy to complain about it as it was with 'Lil Russell.
I like Marty and Jill, so I'm glad they found the idol.
And Tyrone's "one eye on her and one eye on my shoes" line. And Jane is still awesome.
Then all of the madness at with Team Young:
The hilariously stupid synchronized march into the challenge, following last week's hilariously stupid synchronized dance into the challenge.
"Fabio" (I feel a twinge of sympathy for him that even the producers have labeled him this in the credits) has the most randomly hilarious argument with NaOnka ever. She has an absolutely horrible attitude but I can't help find her funny.
Brenda, totally the Parvati of this season, gets Hottie Chase to turn against his original alliance. I sense her going far after this.
Biogted and cocky jerk Shannon actually gets what's coming to him. Yay! The sexism and homophobia he managed to display in just two episodes was really gross. That was an even more spectacular tribal council flameout than Wendy had just last week. In fact, that might've been one of the very few times in this show's history that behavior at tribal council actually caused people to vote someone out (like Kelly B., who was supposedly in his alliance).

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua (CBS) | Season 21
First of I probably should've known I was going to watch one of the funniest Survivor episodes when I saw they changed Judd's name to Fabio in the opening credits. From that point on Survivor delivered more laughs than 30 Rock manages to come up with in a whole season. Seriously Emmy's should really give this one a best reality show award it certainly deserves it.
Next the snail and the shoes hysteria ensued. And then we had Nay and Fabio clash. An then the tribal. LOLs. Shannon dug his own grave. Shane on the other hand is pretty stupid if he trusts Brenda. That's a girl who knows how to play. And more of Nay craziness.
I don't know if the rest of the season will live up to this episode, but so far this is the best start to any season in years. And coming off Heroes vs. Villains season - that's a pretty impressive feat.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua (CBS) | Season 21
I felt bad for Coach Jimmy Johnson. Him getting voted out probably won't affect Team Old much physically, but the fact that it seemed to stem out of jealousy on the part of Marty and Crazy Fisherman Jimmy is kind of funny. Jill seems really level-headed but I can't tell if the lack of backbone is an act or real...I hope it's the former. If she's as smart as I think she might be, she's trying to let the alpha males (Marty and Fisherman Jimmy, specifically) try to outdo each other...and then make her move. I could see the women ending up running Team Old.
Yve seems really nice, now that we've actually heard her speak. Tyrone is still kind of awesome.
Naonka is no doubt the most relentlessly unpleasant person I've ever seen on Survivor. She's like Corinne from Gabon except somehow worse. Words failed me when she knocked Kelly B. over to get the clue that she was too stupid to even decipher anyway. I was like...did this bitch REALLY just knock down a woman with an artificial leg on purpose and then apologize for simply "smushing the bananas"? She's like something out of Jerry Springer. AND she's a teacher! She shapes young minds! Unbelievable. I very much look forward to her inevitable comeuppance. Hopefully it involves Kelly taking her leg and beating Naonka over the head with it.
Probst was probably SO mad Jimmy Johnson got voted off. And, from checking his EW blog about the episode, it appears I'm correct. lol

P.E. means pre-elementary, no? Those poor kids. They will be scarred for life. I think she's the next one to go, I don't think even her allies will be able to tolerate her soon.
J. J. getting the boot was meh to me. The whole "old" tribe is pretty boring I must admit.

the old tribe was just set up to be the underdog from the getgo. that's prob why they introduced the stupid medallion of power. usually i hate the merge but this year it might be necessary for it to happen quickly.

Then the Medallion beats its own purpose because it goes from one tribe to another. Now the young tribe has it. They already have the physical advantage and now they have the Medallion too. I'm smelling a reshuffle after one more person gets voted off.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua (CBS) | Season 21
God, I love when they fight over a clue to a HII or the idol itself. This wasn't on Amanda vs. whatshername levels, but I lahved it still. I'd have dove for the fruit basket too and pushed that bitch out tha way. Fuck taking it easier on her because she has one leg. And then Kelly B. plays the victim? Bitch plz. You went for it just as hard. NaOnka (srsly? That is her name?) just won. Get over it. Kelly B. seems too butthurt over it next week according to the clip. Ugh. Annoying. You have a prosthetic leg. Use it as a weapon or something to get that clue, gurrl.
I would hate NaOnka if I were there, but I think she's entertaining to watch in a rude hoodrat way. But I agree, Kelly B. wouldn't get a moment of "Aww, she lost a leg because of a birth defect. I'll go easy on hurr." from me. Nope. And if she expected it (as it is beginning to feel like Kelly B. does, even if she says she doesn't), she can shove it. no1curr. $1,000,000. Screw you.
I liked Jimmy Johnson. Marty and Jimmy Cray Cray both seem to believe they should be the AMIC (alpha male in charge). Yet they weren't. Gotta get the dude that is the AMIC and tribal leader out. I really sort of liked Marty in the premiere, but he's becoming a doucher. He seems like a control freak. Older Russell potential?
All of the Old Tribe males seem deluded, and the woman were strangely complacent. I thought the women of the 70s and 80s were powerful wimmenz? They're all beginning to come off as housewives who'll do anything their man says.
I was wanting to root for the older tribe because they're the underdogs and I think everyone has a bit of a draw to the underdogs of any story, but the Oldz people are just starting to come off as deluded asscracks who's men think they are as strong as the men on the young tribe. Yer not. Yu probably werent even when u were they age. And if you were, neva will b again.
I think I gotta root for team young. The Jane chick that's always wearing blue on the older tribe can get far, though. She seems nice and worthy.

I missed this episode due to a movie but I'm still remembering this fem from the last episode. She's a demon and now I learn she's a teacher. My gosh. Her first impression is one reason why schools fail if this is the way she insta acts to people she's just met. I bet she'll be running her mouth when she gets voted out or even better she makes it to the jury. Oh Boy that would be a treat.
