I think it will crawl to that mark. Even if does not it will be painfully close. Amazing how great its run has been specially Overseas

it is a really big milestone to reach, but not impossible, where I see huge increases, thanked by both TDK and Inception, are in UK (100m+ guarantee), Germany, France, Mexico and some other markets, I see it making from 575m to 625m, but everything will depend on how well the movie is and also some direct competitors as Spiderman and Ice Age 4, and other ones released in June like John Carter, Star Trek 2 (not big overseas, but its numbers from the first one will improve) and Brave

$468,200,000 after the weekend

$753.4 million worldwide!

Italy is still ahead and it made almost $20 million overseas since the last weekend (probably over $20 million with the actuals, as Inception usually goes up from the estimates).

$500,000,000 is happening!

With these drops, it'll definately get to $490m without Italy....so yeah, unless it tanks in Italy, should be at $500m for sure.

BTW - it's already surpassed teh overseas takes of both Matrix Reloaded and TDK and ROTS, a big round of applause.

The only question left now is $800m WW and whether it can beat Independence Day's $511m Overseas. I think it has a good shot at both if Italy delivers at least $20m.

Post Re: Inception (INTL.) - $753.4m (#35) WW
it made 20M OS over last 7 days(I am sure it will go up a bit). if it averages 40% drop in holdovers it will make close to 500M without italy. So 500M and 800M are highly probable.

Only scenario where it does not make 800M is if it gets yanked out of theaters in china next week or something like that. You never know when it comes to that market. Only Xiayun can extrapolate china. I am sure it will average < 35% drop in rest of holdovers(Past few week drops have been exemplary).

I anyway see it do really well in italy as it has done in rest of europe. Isn't Omni from italy. I hope he can give us a preview into its potential in italy.

$500+ million OS is a lock and $800 million worldwide is a near-lock.

I wonder if Shrek 4 can muster the $20m in Japan to gaurantee it finishes ahead of Inception on the overseas charts, it's going to be nothing in it i think. Both are headed for an approx $510m-520m finish overseas. Who will win?

3,229,488 admissions after eight weeks in Germany (it was #8 this weekend). The holds remain very very strong. I know fully believe in a 3.4+ million admissions finish.

And It's likely to win this week for 4 consecutive.
Upcoming Holiday will boost the number, so 400M yuan is already in the bag.

mtime is not the most accurate source, and they are still using 93m yuan for the opening week and thus have the wrong total. The official one will be out later today.

Doing well in China, looks like nothing can stop it now ...that is unless they pull it out of cinemas suddenly

I think 300m Domestic (give or take few million). 520-530m OS.

800m WW is a given and I think it will end up with 815-830m WW

Ranking third on the weekend was Warner's "Inception," which captured another $10.6 million on its extraordinary foreign run from 6,900 screens in 60 markets. Overseas gross total for director Christopher Nolan's scifi thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio stands at $482.8 million.

===

Added about $14m since last weekend and closes in on $500m, looks like it'll need another 2 weeks to go there. Italy opened this weekend and it looks like the opening wasn't uber-blockbuster territory. i don't see any stats, but if it grossed just over $10m for the weekend then i don't see more than about $4m for Italy.

$20m looks a bit shaky, maybe $15-20m is more reasonable.

Screen Daily reported $4.2m for Italy. Not sure why they waited so long to release it in that market.

Because Summer is usually slow there, and the Fall is a better time for movies.

Slughtly disappointing in Italy (I expected $5.5-6 million), but it is still enough for it to reach $500 million overseas. Should be at $490+ million by the end of the next weekend. $800 million worldwide looks shakier, but it's not out of question yet either.

At this rate, i would comfortable to rule out $520m. $500m is pretty much a lock now....with a final gross around $508-513m likely i think.
