 Re: Going the Distance (2010)
I really loved this. Definitely the best romantic comedy of the year and probably the best one since (500) DAYS OF SUMMER. Drew Barrymore and Justin Long have fantastic chemistry here and the script is really witty and funny. Christina Applegate is also really funny here, having a number of hysterical one liners. The is a very realistic depiction of a long distance relationship (though I honestly felt the ending wrapped things up too nicely). The only bad thing I have to say about this one is Justin Long's friends were kind of obnoxious. I wouldn't ever be able to be friends with them. And because of them, I don't know how the WOM for the film will be among older audiences. There were a few older women who were getting annoyed at the vulgarity (though it wasn't half as bad as other R-rated comedies). I just don't think they were expecting it. Anyhoo, I definitely recommend this. Drew has never been better and I now have a gigantic crush on Justin Long. See this little gem. 8/10 (A-)

 Re: Going the Distance (2010)
This sweet-natured romantic comedy overcomes some of its limitations thanks to a pair of winning performances from Drew Barrymore and Justin Long, as well as being more thought-provoking than typical films of this ilk. It's a bit less predictable than a lot of romcoms, and the central conflict is believable and relatable. In addition to Barrymore and Long, there's a fun supporting performance from Christina Applegate. B+

 Re: Going the Distance (2010)
Going the Distance takes bits and pieces of some other romantic comedies but actually centers more on the relationship story then throwing in joke after joke. The film definitely has some very funny moments but it takes the seriousness factor well and works into the comedy to where no one method is overtaking the other. Barrymore and Long have good chemistry on screen though it is nothing special. Christina Applegate is good though the best supporting character is Charlie Day who brings some of the film's best jokes in and keeps some of his usual zaniness that could also be found in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It's no barrier breaking film for a romance film but it definitely not dull and it is a fun and easy watch. **1/2

 Re: Going the Distance (2010)
Wasn't I surprised to be so won over by Going The Distance!
Darned if it isn't one of the best ROM-COM's I've seen in a dog's age. Going The Distance has an undeniable realness rarely portrayed in this genre. And guess what? It's laugh out loud funny too! Justin Long can be a fine comedic actor when he sets his mind to it (if he doesn't set your teeth on edge too much). Drew Barrymore is the youngest old veteran of Hollywood - - she's always great (ie: effortlessly hilarious and an irresistibly charming sweetie-pie). The supporting players are solid comic bedrock. Unfortunately, my old-time favorite Christina Applegate wasn't given much in the way of a humorous character to work with, but Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day pull all aces as the best friends.
I was totally immersed in the story right up till the third act, but then I had trouble buying Justin Long's character's inability to see the solution to their problem from Drew Barrymore's character's point-of-view. And yes I know that sort of ego-blindness really does occur in relationships all the time, it just failed to engage me as a the key conflict in this story. I wish the writer had been able to sustain the spell he'd so delightfully cast in the first acts, but then I'll count my blessings and rate Going The Distance a solid...
8 out of 5.

Sad to see this fine ROM-COM going unseen by so many people who might have appreciated it - - watch for a big bump in it's reputation when the DVD is released.
(At least it's not under-rated by KJ!)

Meh, it's decent/cute enough but nothing special. Expected it to be better.

The only thing I hate about this film is the very last scene of it.

B+/B Depends on what exactly are you talking about, i kind of feel the same way. I really liked it, its very funny but it just felt like the movie was cut short or something, it kind of gets you off guard. I just think something more needed to be added. Overall very good. B+

B+ I meant the do-it-on-table scene of her sister and her sister's husband. Sooooo Adam Sandler's film. It was hilarious with Barrymore and Long though.
