Post Regarding World of KJ -- Please read.
Ok everyone.

I want to inform all of you as to the things that have been going on. Basically ... the server went down today due to the oscars.

My web host informed me that we crashed and overloaded the server, we were causing performance issues, and they took the site offline because of it. They graciously put it back up, and we should be ok for the time being.

I have talked with baba, who has been amazing in helping me run both the foum and the site. We know that this is not going to work out, and are looking for options to allieviate the problem. It will be handled this week, so please bear with us.

I am really sorry about any inconvience, please throw any questions you want, I will get back to you.

Man Eagle that was bad it only took 50-60 visitors to crash the site? Do we need to chip in some funds to get a bigger server?

Boyfresh,

We are going to a bigger server.

Shared hosting just isn't working, and while dedicated hosting is the solution it is also expensive.

Regardless the server has been bought, and after the setup time of 72 hours, I will go ahead and get eerything working. We should have a new home, and a much faster home with noone on the box besides us, by the weekend.

Also there will be a new site design when we go to the new box, so look for that.

On other sites of this nature they sometimes ask people to pass the hat and donate 5-10 dollars each to pay for bandwidth. Would that help in this case or is it solvable without that?

It's being considered. Torrino and I think it'd be good, and if you sign up for Paypal, they give you $5 to sign up anyways. If everyone donates $5, that'll pay for atleast half of the yearly cost.

Palpal is being looked into. I believe the server has been bought and the paypal option will be the last resort thing that kj has planned.

After recieving an actual notice that my account was going to be canceled from my ISP, I went ahead and bought us our own server.

It is a DP-Sempron 2600
80GB Hard Drive
512 MB DDR Ram
Bandwidth 1000GB
5 IP adresses
Private VLan

It is our own server, noone else will be on the box with us. Noone at all.

It is however expensive, but it should make things MUCH faster, and MUCH smoother. Fingers crossed everyone.

lovemerox. A baseline dedicated server is around $80 per month.

$5 to $10 per person would be very nice. Even if Eagle doesn't need it, we should set up PayPal anyways.

He'd invest it well...assuming he won't waste the money on poker...

I'd throw in if you'd set up PayPal.

Actually I would rather buy the space above baba's avatar.
