oh well when opening comes I haven't been around any re-release still I don't think with 400 theaters this will do 22m.

I am guessing about 15m-17m at this point still this is Avatar so you never know :)

I wonder if it will stay in some theatres all the way until the rerelease. If so it might be at something like $749.9 million by the time the rerelease hits, hehe.

I don't know...Star Wars was released in 1750 theatres a year after initial release, made $10,166,336 on OW for a PTA of $5,809, adjust that to $12 average price and it's $31k, that in 400 theatres and you've got $12.5m OW, 4 multiplier equals $50m.

That'll do.

With just around 400 theatres I have a hard time seeing more than $30 million...

Avatar just cracked the $749,700,000 barrier on Sunday, currently sitting at $749,701,420 in it's 213th day of release.

It's currently making only $500 - $1800 a day, so there's no hope for it to go over $750mil before the re-release.

:(

Make that $15m.

Studio should have gone wider, bitches. I guess they thought it's not worth it. I don't even blame them, really, re-releases haven't done particularly well...

Dom: $8m OW, $27m total.

OS: $60m total.

The pair of you are pansies, a 30,000 PTA magnus WHAT.THE.FUCK. The film has 3-D premium, it would have had a 30,000 PTA without 3D seeing as the theater count is minimal and its the biggest fucking film of all time. guaranteed 40,000+ PTA as i am sure at least 100 of those theaters will be in the fucking amazing spectacle that is IMAX 3-fucking-D. Screw you bloody heads on straight and make some real predictions pansies.

I seriously cannot predict this because it was and is doing good still so far in the release with just lower 2 digit theaters but the ratings for the movie have gone down considerably from where it started and now it seems that audience is considering it as another average movie rather than a blockbuster hit. Still the name has gone house brand like Titanic...for everything people would say he/she pulled an Avatar or something similar during a very generic discussion

Wow, you're really going high with your predictions, $30m seems huge with only about 400 theaters for supposedly 2 weeks. But what do i know...

I think the 2 week thing is just a gimmick to get more crowds over the OW and generate more buzz they might even start adding theaters because of good numbers :D

Over here in Germany they say nothing about two weeks. They say for a short time only and a Fox spokesperson explains they say that because they know that the demand for 3D screens is high - but everyone can play the Special Edition as long as they want... (but two weeks later RE4 will open)

The two weeks thing is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. There is no way in hell they would pull the movie out of theaters after two weeks if it is making decent money.

That is too low. There is a chance that it might make that much with 3D and IMAX screens on the re-OW itself. Do remember with less than 20 theaters itself it was generating decent PTA and good amount
