 Re: July 23-25 Predictions
SALT - 28.3 MILLION RAMONA & BEEZUS - 10.1 MILLION
INCEPTION will hurt SALT a bit. SALT will hurt INCEPTION a little too, but to a lesser extent, IMO.

 Re: July 23-25 Predictions
Vague early predictions
Salt - $38-41m Ramona and Beezus - $3-5m
I'll wait for Monday's grosses before predicting Inception, but I'm anticipating a less-than-43% drop. Star Trek dropped 42.8% following a $75m OW, I'm assuming Inception can drop a bit less given the smaller OW and the similar WOM.

2 of my buds have already agreed to see it again, both saying they feel they'll enjoy it even more

 Re: July 23-25 Predictions
Hmm what are the chances Inception can increase on it's opening weekend or atleast not drop below $50M ?

Add in the previews to Star Trek and it would have dropped over 45% B. May openings vs. July opening VERY different. A 45% drop in July is GREAT while only good in May. Not to say that Inception won't drop under 45% (I think it will), but ST isn't the best comparison. wrongturn687 wrote: Hmm what are the chances Inception can increase on it's opening weekend or atleast not drop below $50M ? 0% chance for both. Absolute best possible case would be 25% drop which is what WC got, which would lead to a 45m weekend. And that's like literally THE MAX. If it does more than that, I will eat my own shit and put it on YouTube. If it did that you could send me some of your shit and I'D eat it and put it on YouTube .

I must be the only one that thinks Salt will "bomb" (as in barely getting $30). I don't see the interest for this at all. Can't be the movie itself, look very average. Is Jolie really that big of a draw?

YOU CRAZY GEZ! I just get that feel that it will defy logic as a few films a decade do. I could be very wrong but i'm going with it.

 Re: July 23-25 Predictions
Every summer needs a leggy runaway hit. Shockingly, the closest we've had to one this summer is Grown-Ups. Perhaps Inception could be the one we're looking for.

I'd be happy to be wrong as it looks fun, but at the moment I don't think it will be. I say high 20's or maybe lower 30's.

 Re: July 23-25 Predictions
Early Tracking is suggesting about 35m for Salt. This is a perfect role for Angelina and though I think screen absence could do bad for her, the tracking is suggesting otherwise. It might end up being a big opener since she hasn't been on big screen for quite sometime now (last being Changeling that was in October 2008)
It has a good chance of 40m+ still Inception might hurt this. The vice-versa is also true and if Salt turns out to be good there is a chance that Inception might get hurt a bit more.

Star Trek was just the first well-received non-3D blockbuster incorporating sci-fi and action elements with a $60-80m OW that came to mind.

I'm thinking low/mid 40's for Salt.

People either love it or dont get it (in that case they may see it again) - so its a win win for Inception. Expect a sub 30% drop next weekend for sure. I even wouldnt be surprised with a sub 15%.

Are you smoking something? Sub 15%? That's just not possible . Maybe if it opened with 11 Million.

 Re: July 23-25 Predictions
The early tracking for Ramona seems to be good. I am not sure it will do well but there is a chance it might actually clear that double digits mark which would be a great number for it
