Not much surprise for any category. Congrats Sideways, Garden State, The Motorcycle Diaries, and Maria Full of Grace!

I gotta say...
Seeing SIDEWAYS sweep the ISA tonight really makes me happy...and will make it''s eventual shutout tomorrow night (except BEST SCREENPLAY) bareable. The ISA tonight really marked a distinction in my mind between the actual love of movies and the art it contributes to different from the political self-congratulatory system that the Oscars have become. To see Paul Giamatti standing on that stage, accepting the Best Actor award which he richly deserves, really brings tears to my eyes.
OK...I admit...I've had a little too much to drink and am probably taking this stuff way too seriously...
But, I don't now about ya'll...but can you imagine how hard it's going to be tomorrow when I'm at that Oscar party (which I'm sure a lot of you will be at one yourself) and the ABSOLUTE PAIN that I'm going to feel when I hear MILLION $ BABY (which admittedly does have its merits) or (God forbid) THE AVIATOR win Best Picture??? How many of you out there can honestly say that either of those films are better than the truth and beauty of this unassuming, splendidly real work of art is???
Again...I have to say...I'm going to keep that image in my head of Alexander Payne, his production & writing partner Jim, Virginia, Thomas and Paul going to that stage and heartfully accepting what is rightfully there's. I'll just group the Best Picture winner tomorrow night with the bunch that includes GLADIATOR & A BEAUTIFUL MIND as Oscar's continuing blunders.
All right...got out what I wanted to say. Bestter go have that 5th Appletini and pass out!!! \:D/

I was actually a little dissapopinted by the awards show yesterday. The winners were deserving, as they have been in the past, but the show itself wasn't as good, there weren't many memorable moments like there have been in the past, the songs weren't as good. It's still better than most award shows out there, but I hope they improve next year.
