Other than Robin Hood, I feel this performed closest to early expectations than the rest of the May films. Anyone who might have thought this will increase over SatC1 total gross is probably as "crazy" as someone who predicted 450m+ for IM2.

Hmm, is there a chance that Sex and the City 2 will miss $100 million? Strong weekdays are helping it a lot, but bad weekend drops might make up for that...

Yeah, I'm sure it's my fault that the makers of this movie decided to make it 2.5 hours long, along with apparently offending scenes poking fun at Middle Eastern people that turned folks off..

If it follows the first film's pattern, we're looking at a $13.7 million second weekend (drop around 56% from the 3-day weekend).

That'll put it at $74+ million by the end of the second weekend. With strong weekdays it keeps displaying I think it should pass $100 million.

Yes even though the opening was disappointing the weekday numbers are quite impressive. This week it should have a good competition and the WOM is not that great. I am expecting about 16M this weekend due to lower OW though I could be wrong. 100M at this time looks like safe bet.

Hmm, it is below $75 million after its second weekend. That's really quite disappointing.

Though I still think it has a chance of making 100M though even if it barely makes that it is a very disappointing figure.

Well, $100 million is not happening without a considerable studio push. Worldwide, however, it might still reach $300+ million.

This has to be one of the most dissapointing performances in a long time. For the studio to give it Memorial Day weekend (a mistake) they would have expected $150m minimum. I think the makers of the film failed by setting it in Dubai. SATC is all about NYC and thats what people want to see. But Dubai??? Atleast set it in Europe or something.

And they didn't even film in Dubai, but Morocco! So why the fuck not just have it be Morocco? Or Spain?

Yeah, I think setting a lot of the film not in NYC (and pointing this fact out in the trailers) was a major mistake.


For some reason, however, Germany will become one of the few markets in which it will outdo the original (in admissions too!).

I'm sad it couldn't do at least 100 Million, but it seems to be doing well worldwide, so that's a plus.

Worldwide numbers are also not that great. Except for a few countries it might end up grossing lesser than the original whereas admissions....let's not talk about that. These all with the being a sequel to an OK movie AND inflation. Pathetic

Sure it's disappointing, but regardless of what the first made its total worldwide gross is still a good number. I imagine, like the show and the first movie, DVD sales will be great.

Yeah the number if you see for the movie is good no doubt about it but since this is a sequel the number is underwhelming. Also with the Budget of 100m this is sure to be a money maker for the studios but I hope they do not take this is as a sign for a 3rd movie. That would be an absolute disaster.

Wow! SATC2 couldn't even pass Valentine's Day which was a female orientated movie produced by the same studio back in February! I agree with soagg that it would be a mistake to make a 3rd one!

If they keep the budget at $100 million or lower a third movie will still be a solid financial success.

Hmm first of all the actors are getting pretty old and even if they have 300m WW this time I see the third one will not be able to make even 250m WW. I mean the original made 263m OS whereas this will make about 30m more for the total WW number. Again the reviews for this one are not that great and I think a lot of fans will not show up for the third one rather they might see it on DVD's
