You guys heard about that Natalie Portman thing, right?
You know, the thing about her filming a kissing scene at a holy site in Jerusalem? Well, if you haven't, heres the story - http://www.suntimes.com/output/movies/c ... man25.html
Anywho, the main reason I posted this is because natalieportman.com linked to a hilarious blog about the incident. It's guaranteed to offend just about everybody, but I thought it was pretty damn funny in a "I can't believe i'm reading this" kind of way. Anyway...
http://ravingatheist.com/archives/2005/ ... rilege.php
"Cock-hungry slut puppy Natalie Portman was chased off a movie set by a group of Orthodox Jewish men after defiling the Western Wall, according to the New York Post. Chanting “Whores! Whores!â€Â, the crowd drove the sleaze-dripping thespian twat away from the holy site after she was caught nearby with fellow actor Aki Avni filming a scene which included the salacious and lascivious oral act known as “kissing.â€Â
“YHWH did not build this rock-structure for depraved, meatpole-riding, jizz-drinking fuck-house cunts to stain with their clit juices,†said Chief Rabbi Moshe Shafran. “We cannot permit a leg-spreading hosebag cooze slattern to insult our God of love by simulating lip contact,†he declared. Shafran also noted that couple did not even have the modesty to wear hoods over their heads and perform the act through a sheet or blanket. In the past, men and women who so much as prayed together have been cornered by righteous mobs and pelted by bags of excrement.
Israeli filmaker Amos Gitai later negotiated with the Orthodox group to shoot a new version of the scene. Instead of the kiss, whore-Portman menstruates and is consequently stoned, hacked in to meaty chunks, dipped in urine and fed to wild dogs."

Perhaps the funniest thing about this whole thing is the fact that some of the talkbackers at the site actually took the blog seriously. ](*,)

Ya, I read about this (it was frontpage news at Yahoo, it's not easy to avoid, urgh!).
Well, I guess this is the Israeli version of the Hollywood vs. Conservatives bickering here in NA
Btw, I had in inkling this thread would be about Israel, but I thought it would concern the Tel Aviv bombing.

Yeah, I saw that it was on the frontpage of Yahoo! yesterday, too. I've no clue how in God's name this is considered "big news", but whatever.

Just a bunch of religious crazies being stupid. I have tolerance for mild religion but none for the ultra orthodox or fundamentalists and their kind.

I think it depends on amount of viewers checking it out.
Btw, have you ever gone into the messageboards? 5 minutes there and you lose all hope for humanity.
It's basically like this:
When the story concerns Israel/Palestine, there are anti-semetic posts run galore, plenty of jokes and insults concerning Arabs, and widespread anti-Bush sentiment (and pro-Bush).
When the story is gay-related, it's homophobia and rejoicing when AIDS victims die, etc.
Just sick, it's so revoling, urgh. They think that, since they're online, they can (and do) write about anything they like, for as long as it insults people.

Well neither side came off looking the best. Portman and the film makers definitely should have known better, I think it's a stupid rule and though I'm Jewish I'm way more relaxed then most with this sort of thing, but it's there holiest place, they should respect it.

You know .. I'm forced to agree with you a little bit here ....
I'm all for freedom to do what you want but jeez, come on ... a little respect? I mean you know how people will react to something like that but you still go ahead and do this stuff. Why are you trying to make a pointless point.
its like peopel suing cause they know they have grounds to sue .. whatever happened to sorting things out and realizing people make mistakes as well.
