I wouldn't worry about it now after seeing that new trailer.. Watch it.. I think the R-Rating is gonna stick with this, otherwise, it will hurt the movie more than benefit it with a PG-13 Rating.. People have no idea how big this one particular horror movie is gonna be.. It will..

50 Million opening for Amityville??? i don't think it'll happen. tell me since when a R-rated horror film ever open in 50 million range?

anyway 50 million in 3 days just too much.

by the way The Ring 2 will have more chance to outdo Amityville in long-term run.

Well then bet me.. If your so confident I'm wrong, then step up to the plate.. Your looking at the 1st R-Rated Horror movie that's gonna break the notion of PG-13 always outgrosses R-Rated Horror for weekend totals come to a screeching halt with this.. I think this is gonna have major crossover appeal for adults and teens under 17 will find a way to get tickets to it.. This will make The RING II look like shit considering the 1st RING is already shit..

i'm sonfident enough. and the bet is on.

by the way The 1st Ring is not a shit, otherwise they won't do the sequel.

Ring is one of the most well recieved horror flicks of all time, I liked it didnt think it was THAT great - but im not blind enough to see that it was a very well recieved film. Ring Two will easily get 50mil its first weekend out, while Amityville will be lucky to get 30mil its first weekend.

Sorry, but Amityville is gonna be the surprise R-Rated Horror that breaks into the 50 Million weekend opening on name and recognition alone, plus face it: It looks incredibly kick ass and when you put this up against the RING II, The RING II will end up coming up short because of it being nothing more than a rehash of the 1st movie, while Amityville will be the horror movie of 2005.. Everything else will come 2nd.. Hell, if your so certain I'm wrong, then bet me.. As a matter of fact, wasn't the DAWN OF THE DEAD Remake R-Rated and made 40 Million in 1 weekend??? :-k If so, Amityville will outdo that one easily..

No, Dawn of the Dead made, like, $33m in one week. The weekend gross was around $25m or $26m.

Which is why I doubt a $50m opening. MGM sucks at marketing. They can't bring people to the theater to anything other than Barbershop or Bond. This won't be different...

Yeah, but Barbershop isn't The Amityville Horror... I'm sure they'll market this just fine aloing with the DVD Box Set Release a couple of weeks before the movie comes out..

Hey, BKB I am so sure that Ring Two will do better, that I will make a (small) wager with you. If you win, I have to change my signature to say "I Am BKB's Bitch" and if I win you have to change yours to "Alien Vs Predator is the worst movie ever made"

I'm glad this rumor isn't true. TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE was one of my favorite horror films ever (the remake, not the original) and I'm totally excited for this one!

Your on and if I lose, I'll put that in my signature for 1 week, but it's not happening and after the abysmal disappointment of yet another PG-13 Horror movie like CURSED appears to be, Amityville Horror and it's R-Rating for scenes of Strong Terror, Disturbing Images and Graphic Violence will be a welcome fresh breath for Horror fans desperately looking for a fucking great horror movie and Amityville is the one, not The PG-13 RING II.... Amityville Horror will OWN the RING II....

Dawn of the Dead made 26mil its first weekend out and dropped 60% the next week :-# 30mil would be a surprise for Amityville and im sure the studios will be very happy with that. There is no recognition and name, nobody cares about the Amityville Horror anymore, it's old news and its not like 40 year olds are the ones this movie is aimed for. Saying Ring Two will be a rehash is dumb because all Amityville is just a remake, it doesnt help out your case at all. Theres too many people doing bets with you - but if you wanna do bet then if I win you'll have to put Amityville is a big pile of shit in your sig and also put im taking it up the ass by Paul Anderson in your location column.

Saying The RING II is a rehash(which it is) is not dumb and it's damn accurate.. It's not scary, it's fucking overrated by a bunch of teens that are experiencing a serious case of denial in saying this movie is scary and are doing so cause there damn deseprate for a good horror movie to scare ya and like Maverikk said, there believing in there back of there heads it's scary when it's not.. It sucks... Thank God the studio had the balls to keep this R-Rated cause PG-13 Horror sucks big balls just like The RING II will.. This movie will be a hell of alot better than Dawn of the Dead and will show that when it comes out.. No recoginition and name??? :-k Your fucking kidding me?? :-k Amityville is one of the most famous Hauntings and Ghost Stories around, whether you believe it or not kid.. This will roll the RING II up in a big joint and smoke it.. =D>

There you go, teens and a pg-13 horror flick that was very well recieved. The sequel will make huge $$$ Do you know how much the Ring opened to? 15mil and its total is 130mil. That should tell you the type of wom the movie recieved. I thought Dawn of the Dead was way better then The Grudge - but which one made more? Doesnt really matter what movie you think will be better, the most popular movie will make more $$$ and Ring is much more popular and its PG-13.

It was well received cause teens are desperate for good horror and don't know any better and will accept anything at this point.. Again, why The RING is so popular when in fact, it wasn't scary in the least bit blows me away.. What the fuck is so great about The RING??? :-k Movies are supposed to scare and this one doesn't by a longshot.. Perhaps at The RING II, They'll show The Amityville Horror Trailer and show teens what a great R-Rated Horror movie is supposed to look like?? :-k Bottom line: Amityville will OWN RING II and blow moviegoers away at how good it really is and will finally be the movie that ushers back in R-Rated Horror instead of goofy, watered down PG-13 Horror with a girl with stringy black hair that looks waterlogged..

I think you're making Amityville out to be something theres no way it can be. I do think it'll be pretty good and could be great - but blows people away and ushers back R rated Horror flicks :-k This will perform like TCM which imo is fantastic - but 150mil+ thats something beyond imaginable. It could make studios decide to make even more horror remakes though 8-[

Also BKB, in the Amityville book does Mrs. Lutz meet with the priest in person? Because in this movie she meets with him in person.

Normally, I would agree with what your saying, but I just have this feeling this movie is really gonna be the breakout Spring Horror movie that horror fans will be craving after the PG-13 Disappointments we've had and possibly put an end to this PG-13 Horror shit and prove that a well done R-Rated Horror can put just as many butts in the seats as a cheesy PG-13 Horror.. Christ, look at how poorly Boogeyman performed, CURSED will probably fall into this as well since it's being butt slammed hard at every site I've been to... Too many horror movies being released?? Yeah, that to is possible, but I just think Amityville will usher back in the scares needed for a good horror movie and what we've had thus far isn't it..

Also BKB, in the Amityville book does Mrs. Lutz meet with the priest in person? Because in this movie she meets with him in person.

In the Novel, she asks the Priest to come over and bless the house which he does and I believe when he arrived, everyone was out on the boat taking a ride around the harbor when the Priest began to Bless the house.. Then the flies appeared, along with the Foul Odors and then, the voice telling him to "GET OUT" which was awesome sounding.. After the vopice told him to GET OUT, he did just that and left without the Lutz's even knowing he was there.. Ms.Lutz tried to call him over and over only to be met with unearthly moans on the telephone line and the priest's palms of his hands began to blister violently and he became gravely ill as a result.. She never met him once in person to my recollection which is another change Michael Bay has done.. I mean I will say that if there shooting for accuracy in this, they should stick with the Novel and granted, it seems like both movie versions will have a bit of both the Novel and Bay's imagination for good horror.. I do think the Pig Jody that the little girl sees should be in the movie and NOT be the fucking babysitter which I could strangle Bay over that change....

Dont know abou Boogeyman performing bad - it did pretty well for being such a shitty movie - but Cursed is probably gonna do very poorly after seeing the Friday estimates, hell it just got wooped by a movie thats in just half the theaters Cursed is in.
