 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $2,467,904,794
Avatar breezed past $1.8bn and has now dominated the international arena for almost three months thanks to an estimated $36.1m weekend gross.Quote: Fox International’s sensational sci-fi adventure remained active on 6,535 screens in 70 markets and fell a mere 25% as it raised the running total to $1.8445bn.
That figure alone has surpassed Titanic’s entire worldwide tally and Avatar’s global tally factoring in the $706m North American gross stands at $2.551bn.

About $65m for the whole week overseas. Last week it made about $90m. It's dropping too much for my taste, $2b is in danger, especially since Alice is starting to roll out next week.

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $2,467,904,794
'Avatar' says farewell at No. 1Quote: Hanging on for what will be its farewell round atop of the foreign circuit, 20th Century Fox's "Avatar" on the weekend made it 11 straight stanzas in the No. 1 spot by grossing $36.1 million from 6,535 screens in 70 markets.
Total foreign take by director James Cameron's 3D blockbuster now stands at $1.844 billion -- thus surpassing the $1.843-billion worldwide boxoffice total rolled up by the director's 1997 former record holder, "Titanic." "Avatar's" worldwide cume is $2.550 billion. To date, its foreign gross is more than two-and-a-half times its domestic cume of $707 million.
The biggest "Avatar" market on the weekend was Japan, where the weekend take was $4 million from 514 locations for a Japan cume of $140 million. Top market overall remains France where the Cameron epic has grossed a total of $169 million thus far.
"Avatar's " foreign reign will be usurped by the opening this week of Disney's "Alice in Wonderland," director Tim Burton's 3D re-imagining of Lewis Carroll's classic, starring Johnny Depp, in 41 foreign markets representing about 60% of the total offshore marketplace.

Top market is France? Are they just ignoring the fact that China had $171m as of last weekend?

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $2,467,904,794
Someone at BOM posted the whole article from Screendaily: Quote: Avatar breezed past $1.8bn and has now dominated the international arena for almost three months thanks to an estimated $36.1m weekend gross.
Fox International’s sensational sci-fi adventure remained active on 6,535 screens in 70 markets and fell a mere 25% as it raised the running total to $1.8445bn.
That figure alone has surpassed Titanic’s entire worldwide tally and Avatar’s global tally factoring in the $706m North American gross stands at $2.551bn.
In the latest series of notable benchmarks James Cameron’s space opera crossed 14million admissions in France, set a new record of 13million admissions in South Korea, stayed top in Japan for the tenth consecutive weekend, and crossed $100m in Spain.
It added $4.1m in Japan from514 for $140m, $3.8m in France from 449 for $169.1m, and consolidated China’s status as the biggest overseas market for the film after only eight weekends as $3m from 792 raised the running total to $176.1m.
Elsewhere Avatar added $3.5m in Germany from 455 for $138.9m, $3.4m in the UK from 400 for $140.3m, $2.4m in Italy from 369 for $89.6m after seven weekends, $2m in Spain from 283 for an even $100m, and $1.4m in South Korea from 197 for $105.8m.
Russia stands at $112.9m, Australia $97.7m, Brazil $53.2m, Mexico $43.2m, Holland $24.5m, Denmark $22.9m, Sweden $21.3m, Hong Kong $21.3m, and Austria $15.1m.

So it's passed $100m in Spain. Italy's looking more like a long shot. Will Australia get there?

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $2,467,904,794
Australia added $2.3m in the last 7 days so i think it can squeeze out another $2.3m. Italy added $3.9m, another $10.4m might prove more difficult given Italy is pretty notorious for bad drops.

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $2,467,904,794
I never thought $100m was possible in Spain. That is double the previous record. And to think we only have half the population of Germany where it has $140m with higher ticket prices. If I'm not mistaken admissions in Spain should be around 7.5m. Nevertheless, I still think Australia has the most amazing run.

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $2,467,904,794
Nice numbers all around. And 11 weeks at number 1 was a great run though I doubt it would be the best overseas run.
With 1.844B and lot of screen shredding specially at smaller markets I would say that the movie would just die from here on. I still think it has a chance to crawl to that 2B overseas mark but will have to wait for next weekend to be absolutely sure. Alice will not be releasing in all the markets so I would say that it has a come close to 1.95B in the next 2 weeks when Alice is still opening (in all its markets) and maybe it will have some Oscar buzz around.

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $2,467,904,794
Australia will certainly pass $100 million. Italy might be a struggle, though. Movies almost never have good late legs there. Could stall with $97 million or so, heh.
BTW, Brazil is REALLY impressive. It is not being mentioned a lot, but $50+ million from that market is really a huge deal.
Germany and UK are both gonna pass $150 million. France is looking good for $185+ million, maybe even $190 million. I'm wondering in how many countires Avatar's still #1 of the box-office...

Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $2.55bn est.
Next week I see that there are a lot of local openers and thus it will have competition not only from Alice but the local openers everywhere overseas. Next weekend will be really tough for it. Avatar could fall from 65M to more than half or about 25M for the whole week but I guess it will have better weekdays than weekends drop wise.
