Breakin News "The Hurt Locker" DQ'd?
http://oscars.movies.yahoo.com/blog/51- ... ompetitionInappropriate Email Could Hurt Biggest 'Avatar' Oscar CompetitorQuote: In an inappropriate email sent out to academy members, obtained by the LA Times' Gold Derby blog, Chartier came awfully close to what may be described as begging the voting members to support his film over its Best Picture competition. (The Academy explicitly bans directly campaigning to voters.) Though he doesn't come right out and say "vote for my film instead of 'Avatar,' by asking Academy members to ask "friends who vote for the Oscars" to support "The Hurt Locker" over "a $500M" film -- it's a safe bet Chartier wasn't referring to "An Education." Quote: Other than some Academy instituted penalties -- such as losing tickets to the ceremony on March 7 -- the real question regarding possible repercussion for "The Hurt Locker" is if this display will cost it votes based on negative publicity. Final Oscar ballots are due on Tuesday, March 2. For this controversy to happen so close to the deadline, in what was already considered a close race, it could wind up being devastating for "The Hurt Locker." "The Hurt Locker" has one thing working it its favor: as The Wrap blog points out, there won't be any official ruling on the matter until after voting closes on Tuesday.

I just read this... VERY interesting. We'll see what happens! Maybe it will be DQ'ed and 500DoS will get it's spot and votes... lol

It won't get DQ'd. This kind of shit happens every year; it's just this year that it's getting publicized.

terrible topic title...the word disqualified or DQed doesn't even appear in the story.

Re: Breakin News "The Hurt Locker" DQ'd?
The news is a couple of days old and mainly promoted by a couple of bloggers who have certain agenda against THL, O'Neil and Hammond. The biggest penalty THL will receive officially is the loss of tickets, as it happened a few times in the past. There is really nothing ground-shaking here. Also 80% or so of the votes are already cast by now, with every indication saying THL is firmly in the lead, so it's unlikely to affect the race either.

Re: Breakin News "The Hurt Locker" DQ'd?
How can anyone know which movie is in the lead? There are bloggers that are so rooting for THL that they've lost their objectivity too and are reporting shits and craps about how everyone's voting for it, blah, blah, blah (primarily Sasha - god she's one of the blindest bloggers I've ever seen). Nothing is known in this race yet I think. Everyone seems to forget we're dealing with a preferential balloting this year.

Re: Breakin News "The Hurt Locker" DQ'd?
Sasha is on another rant about THL and how it's good. But this line got me crackin' Quote: Inglourious Basterds can only win on a preferential ballot. And it might just squeak by there and win. It is a film that is very entertaining once you let go of the big problem of having to imagine a story that never actually happened – it could have happened, though, I guess. WTF???? Is she serious. THL story NEVER happened either. Neither did Avatar's. And is that a big problem for those movies??? Hopefully she was smoking pot while writing this and her apology for being incoherent and delusional is to follow. Learn from THL producer Sasha. Learn.

He sent an e-mail supporting his movie?! Dairy Queen the shit out of him! I am PISSED! And I'm also sad, because now I know the Oscars amount to a lot of promotion and politics. *tear*
