Extraordinary is doing a bit better than I expected. Perhaps it could come near double digits this weekend.

Legion seems to be performing near Eli's level, but the lower screen counts will probably end up keeping it from it's full potential.

I am really beginning to think that the Haiti benefit concert is going to dampen Friday numbers and lead to biggger Saturday bumps. It's playing on 25 tv stations, and almost everyone I have been talking to tonight is planning to watch at least some of it.

I am going to see A Single Man tonight

Of the three Tooth Fairy looks like a bummer. Extraordinary seems to be pulling more crowd but the I expected it to cross 15M for the weekend given the CBS push. Saturday will be interesting though for Tooth Fairy and Legion. Both should be well ahead of EM then :)

Tooth Fairy's number is about 3.5 times that of Spy's. Asssuming Spy does $1.15 mil today, Tooth Fairy, which is playing in 11% more theaters than Spy, should do about $4.47 million today.

If Tooth Fairy makes $4.47 million on Friday, its weekend gross will be around $15.8 million.

WOW! Legion is doing big business. It could very well overperform today if ticket sales remain strong.

Would you say Extraordinary Measures will be hurt most by this for it targets TV audience?

How does The Legion compare with Daybreakers two weeks ago?

It looks like The Legion will do $8+ million today alone.

Well on Fandango Legion is number 4 and last week Daybreakers was number 5 in ticket sales and eventhough that third movie TSAL is on there I serioulsly can't believe it's doing better than Legion based off theses mediocore theatre reports.
It might have had decent advance ticket sales, but I really think it was doing gangbustera in the heavey indie market areas llike New York and Los Angeles.

I saw LEGION at 7:00 and it was almost sold out. The movie was terrible though and got a terrible reaction from the crowd.

That's actually not bad for Tooth Fairy. It should have a strong bump from matinees and could do $17 m.

Avatar looks like it could do $32.9 m for the weekend, though that's an early guess.

Wow, our numbers agree!

$2.3 mil Friday is pretty bad for Extraordinary Measures by the way. It may struggle to reach $8 million.

Youth in Revolt
1/22/10, 9:30 PM, 120-seater (5% full)

Trailers
She's Out of My League
Cop Out
Legion
Alice in Wonderland
Piranha 3D

Movie
Youth in Revolt is a wonderful comedy thanks to a witty story and strong performances across the board. Michael Cera plays both of his roles wonderfully. While he can capture the image of Nick wanting to find love and naturally get laid, he also captures the assertive and not backing down alter-ego, Francois Dillinger in a very fun and enjoyable light. Though while Cera shined, the true star is up and coming Portia Doubleday who shows much promise within the film and hopefully can branch out from this and find many more roles. The laughs are consistent and the story very rich that 2010 can start off with a bit of a bang. ***1/2

I did see it.
A crowd report is useless because it was playing at a 20 year old unrenovated theatre that plays all the arthouse stuff and no one really goes to. As such, the 20 people (in a 50 seater) is no indication of anything.

As for the movie itself.
Way too much style over substance. I was disappointed because the movie had the potential to be so much more, but never quiet gets there because the director pulls us away from the moment with fluff.

I don't understand how anyone could enjoy that movie. ;) I was really looking forward to it but it was obnoxious. I wanted to walk out.

I just came back from seeing Legion with some friends at the Edwards IMAX& 3D Theatre and all I have to say is that it was a complete madhouse. I had no idea this theatre was so popular, but holy crap there was just way too many people. From what I saw, Legion, Avatar and even Book Of Eli were packing in some massive crowds. Should be a strong Saturday night for all three.

Would be a very solid day for Avatar. Just about 200K off of last Saturday's gross.

What's odd is that this was one of very few weekends in which there wasn't at least one new trailer released/attached to a new release. Screen Gems missed an opportunity to debut something related to Priest with Legion.

The new Macgrubar trailer was attached to Legion eventhough it wasn't the redband which was alot better.
