 Re: Luis Buñuel
Newsweek actually printed an article about him and reemergence of his work this week. How often does that happen to passed on directors nowadays?
I need to catch up on his work.

 Re: Luis Buñuel
I just caught a cycle of his Mexican films that the Mexican embassy presented at the U. of Puerto Rico. It was funny to know that the ambassadors of Mexico and France were sitting right behind me. El gran calavera is hilarious. Irreverent like only Bunuel could be, the movie is very much worth seeking out. Subida al cielo is another movie which stayed with me. Bunuel stages a sort of Mexican road trip in this film. There's a bus (pretty much a whole character in the movie), and a bus driver, and a kid who's forced to go to town to get a lawyer back to the village to write down his Mother's last will. All this on his wedding day. A great comedy with flashes of neorealism, I would recommend it to anyone who can find it

 Re: Luis Buñuel
So I've been catching up on Bunuel's Mexican cinema. Nazarin was on TV the other day but I caught 15 minutes in and the sound was truly ghastly so that doesn't count as a viewing. Susana's next and I obviously still have a ton of his movies left to see but for now these are my favorites by Bunuel:
1. Viridiana 2. El angel exterminador 3. Subida al cielo 4. Un chien andalou 5. El gran calavera 6. L'Age d'or 7. La ilusion viaja en tranvia 8. El rio y la muerte 9. La hija del engano
