Seems to be another 20M-21M Thursday.

With BOM numbers it was 25.5M Thursday. And since BOM is always having the lower numbers for some weird reason I think that OS is at 786.4M after thursday.

NETHERLANDS - Week 1

Avatar scored one of the largest opening weeks of all-time. While not this year's best (that honor belongs to HP6) it did have 2nd largest outright 7-Day opening week gross, not including previews in both euros and USD.

Harry Potter 6: HBP - $6,460,553 (€4,599,914 or $5,116,487/ €3,642,939 7-Day - 215 TC)
Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - $5,201,392 (€3,870,668 (8-Day or $4,620,789/ €3,438,606 7-Day - 178 TC)

It's really racing up that all time chart, isn't it?

It only barely cracked the top 100 of all time here in Holland with an estimated €4.1 million (http://www.nfcstatistiek.nl is being SLOW with their weekend update, Gawd), but I expect it to end up in the all-time (which really means since 1991 >.>) top 10.

1 TITANIC € 23.572.868,00
2 HARRY POTTER A/T SORCERER'S STONE € 15.357.977,00
3 LORD OF THE RINGS:RETURN OF THE KING € 14.685.698,00
4 LORD OF THE RINGS:FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING € 14.373.610,00
5 DANCES WITH WOLVES € 14.119.111,00
6 HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS € 13.613.274,00
7 LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS € 13.586.729,00
8 LION KING,  THE € 13.350.497,00
9 HARRY POTTER A/T HALF BLOOD PRINCE € 11.289.965,00
10 PIRATES O/T CARIBBEAN:DEAD MAN'S CHEST € 10.525.314,00

Number 9's the one that definitely has to go down, or Avatar won't even be the highest grossing film of the year. >.< It might not be a reasonable expectation, but I'd be sorely disappointed if it didn't. :P

Hp6 did extremely well this year. Though there's quite a large gap between #9 and #8.

Looking at the list of Top 10, they have ROTK's number incorrect. ROTK is above HP1 at 15.6m EUROS.

Avatar has a shot at the Top 10 and should have no problems passing Dead Man's Chest I think. It should be + / - HP6

AUSTRALIA (AUD$) - Weekend 3

Huge, 3rd weekend record of Shrek 2's easily broken. It's already surpassed the total of all but 3 movies all-time, Titanic (AUD$57m) and Shrek 2 (AUD$50m) and ROTK (AUD$49m)

Avatar - $48,426,852 ($9,659,700, +10%)*NY
Shrek 2 - $34,585,149 ($5,308,223, -38%)
Harry Potter 6: HBP - $34,188,000 ($3,027,626, -53%)
Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - $33,725,980 ($3,793,143, -51%)
Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen - $33,690,894 ($3,719,134, -41%)
The Dark Knight - $32,709,700 ($4,576,178, -40%)
Lord Of The Rings: TTT - $32,164,419 ($3,457,691, -45%)
The Twilight Saga: New Moon - $30,829,895 ($2,581,907, -57%)
Lord Of The Rings: FOTR - $30,487,645 ($3,351,821, -43%)
Harry Potter 5: OOTP - $29,414,550 ($2,545,042, -51%)
Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest - $28,761,980 ($3,658,178, -48%)
The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe - $28,638,944 ($2,356,777, -40%)
Star Wars 3: ROTS - $27,638,571 ($3,506,135. -46%)
Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - $26,214,377 ($3,438,820, -45%)
The Simpsons Movie - $26,000,729 ($2,910,638, -53%)
Star Wars 2: AOTC - $25,677,569 ($3,489,877, -43%)
Harry Potter 4: GOF - $25,595,991 ($2,638,493, -49%)
The Matrix: Reloaded - $25,266,386 ($3,243,994, -46%)
Happy Feet - $24,327,148 ($2,410,106, -42%)
Harry Potter 3: POA - $23,964,954 ($2,397,477, -42%)
Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaur - $23,898,497 ($3,145,535, -43%)

........though take a look at this after 3 full weeks of play,

1 3 AVATAR (M), FOX [585/ $27,495] 16,084,370 -13% 54,901,294
2 2 SHERLOCK HOLMES (M), ROADSHOW [308/ $22,321] 6,874,732 -16% 15,084,626
3 2 ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE SQUEAKUEL (G), FOX [365/ $16,342] 5,964,901 -25% 13,905,284
4 2 OLD DOGS (PG), WALT DISNEY [271/ $10,813] 2,930,217 3% 5,805,211
5 2 THE LOVELY BONES (M), PARAMOUNT [178/ $13,960] 2,484,869 227% 3,245,816

Avatar added another AUD$6m from Mon-Wed. School holidays. It's now overtaken all movies with the exception of Titanic's AUD$57m record....which will easily be blown to smithereens this coming weekend. Avatar will surely be above $60m by Monday making it the first movie ever to do so with a trajectory of being the first movie above $70m as well.

This is huge i'm telling you. It's holding so well.

Here's how it performed over 3 weeks...

Weekend 1 - Avatar - $11,962,308 (or $12,895,497 incl. Wed p/v 5pm - 588 SC)
Full Week 1 - Avatar - $20,241,035
Weekend 2 - Avatar - $28,994,289 ($8,749,099, -27%)*Boxing or $32,594,716 ($12,349,526)*Monday
Full Week 2 - Avatar - $38,741,036 ($18,486,376, -4%)
Weekend 3 - Avatar - $48,426,852 ($9,659,700, +10%)*NY
Full Week 3 - Avatar - $54,901,294 ($16,084,370, -13%)

Domestic - $520m (or $550m with the Oscar Win)
International - $1.2billion (or $1.3billion with the Oscar Win)
Worldwide = $1.72billion (or $1.83billion with the Oscar Win)

Dude...there's absolutely no way it'll miss $1.85 billion WW or $600 million domestically as of now...

It'l have $1.3 billion WW by the end of this upcoming weekend. With Italy and the Oscars ahead.

In the USA it'll be at $425 million by the end of its 4th weekend and $475+ million by the end of the 4-day 5th weekend. It'll pass $500 million while still making $15+ million a weekend. How the hell can it stop at $520 million even without the Oscar?

I think by the time of the Oscars ceremony it'll be at $580+ million. Before a potential win.

It's so strange that Australia with only 21m people is on par with markets with many times that population. It just goes to show how relatively few people in Europe and elsewhere actually go to the movies.

You know, I was wondering about the ROTR/HP1 thing too, but the only source I have for their numbers is that website, where there's a difference between ROTK's #'s on the all time list and on the all time opening list. :funny:

So confusing. If the €15.6 number is correct though, ROTK's admissions in the top999 are wrong too though, because it wouldn't beat HP1's gross even with higher ticket prices with only 1.81 million admissions.

EDIT: http://www.nvbinfocentrum.nl/uploads/fi ... tieken.pdf has an all-time list based on admissions. ROTK's only barely under HP1 with 2.077.000 admissions compared to HP1's 2.180.000. Given two years of inflation and far less kid's tickets, it should definitely be above HP1.

Luckily I have a top 100 of my own on my computer. Can't depend on BO sites at all...

Edit 2: The €15.6 million for ROTK isn't right either.

These are the admissions/revenue for the films released since 1999:

01 Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (NL + OV) 2.180.000 adm. € 15.357.000,00
02 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 2.077.000 adm. € 16.406.000,00
03 The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 1.891.000 adm. € 14.358.000,00
04 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (NL + OV) 1.883.000 adm. € 13.613.000,00
05 The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 1.746.000 adm. € 13.570.000,00
06 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest 1.493.000 adm. € 10.525.000,00
07 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (NL + OV) 1.352.000 adm. € 10.999.000,00
08 Finding Nemo 1.347.000 adm. € 8.761.000,00
09 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (NL + OV) 1.322.000 adm. € 10.102.000,00
10 Alles is liefde 1.318.000 adm. € 9.910.000,00

Can't believe that there's only three non-HP/non-LOTR in the top 10 over the past ten years when you look at the admissions in Holland, and only 2 if this year's HP6 is counted.

Diversity fail. :pinch:

http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.ap. ... weekend-ap

James Cameron's tale of humans and aliens in conflict on a distant world climbed to $429 million domestically, putting it at No. 6 on the all-time box-office chart. Worldwide, "Avatar" has streaked to $1.34 billion, second on the global revenue chart only to Cameron's "Titanic," which took in $1.8 billion.

So that means around 911 million international (429+911=1340)
