 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $1.022bn Worldwide (#4)
It needs about $330m more to hit a billion OS, it's coming off a $133m weekend and it has still to open in China and Italy. Looking at it that way a billion seems pretty likely, what do you think?

Poland 2nd Weekend nubmers - 329 965 adm. Total - ~ 1.05 milion admissions. Cash: $8 522 174 - 24 288 197PLN
Hmm it's lower than I thought. Maybe first weekend wasn't so weak after all. Maybe the low number of showings in smaller theaters ( around 35%-40% of cinemas ) is limiting the ammount of viewers that can see the movie.

How does that 2nd weekend compare to other blockbusters and its previous weekend?

It won't break $100m in Spain either. It will become the highest grossing picture ever, though. Problem is that we have half the population of Germany or that Italy, the UK and France have 1/3 more.

Nazgul9 wrote: How does that 2nd weekend compare to other blockbusters and its previous weekend? Well usually a jump after huge opening ( 250k+ weekend ) showed that the movie is going for a long run. A list of movie for comparison Passion of the Christ - jumps from 340k to 415k on second weekend and had 3.45M adm. Lejdis - jumped from 298k to 324k and made 2.5M adm Katyn - jumped from 256k to 260k and made 2.75M adm. Avatar shouldn't have any problem with going above 2M adm. Soon when winter break will start for schools it should once again gain during weekdays.

Hey Mesjarch, how is Katyn?
It came out on DVD a couple of days ago and I'm wondering if I should push it forward in my 'to view' queue or not.

Let's face it. It's about Soviet army killing 17k polish soldiers who were taken into captivity during the war. If you want to see a history movie based on facts then you will like it. If you are pro current Russia-Poland relations then you won't like it because it will be a big lie to you.
