 Avatar's Oscar Prediction
This is my first topic here so please be kind and participate and send as many suggestions to make this more interesting. I think so since AVATAR has made some real numbers and would be slowing just a tiny little bit since the holidays are over it is time to talk about the awards. 82nd Oscars: Nominations to be announced Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 5:30 a.m. PST. Oscars Night will be on March 7, 2010, 5:00 a.m. PT/8:00 a.m. ETRules : http://www.oscars.org/awards/academyawa ... index.htmlChoose whether it will get nominated or not from the below list of Award Categories. I will make a tabular note out of it. The winner will be decided on the % or correct answers so don't pick on every nomination and say YES. Weigh it properly before giving YES or NO. Here is the list of awards that it can be qualified. Put a YES or NO beside the category ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE (Sam Worthington) ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE (Stephen Lang) ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE (Zoe Saldana) ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE (Sigourney Weaver) ART DIRECTION (?) CINEMATOGRAPHY (Mauro Fiore) COSTUME DESIGN (Mayes C. Rubeo, Deborah Lynn Scott) DIRECTING (James Cameron) FILM EDITING (James Cameron, John Refoua, Stephen E. Rivkin) MAKEUP (?) MUSIC[Original Score] (James Horner) MUSIC (Original Song) ("I See You" James Horner) BEST PICTURE (James Cameron, Jon Landau) SOUND EDITING (?) SOUND MIXING (?) VISUAL EFFECTS (?) WRITING [Original Screenplay] (James Cameron)
The last date to submit/edit/update your predictions is Feb 01,2009 US Timings.

Avatar is a 100% designed world with massive amounts of nature, animals, and technology that were created specifically for the film. The sheer amount of design work could give it a nomination. Maybe best song as well, as the song nominations are never that good anyway.

I hope the technical awards and even the nominations for best picture and best director are not guaranteed. Have you just came from the past using Time-Travel or something? Or maybe you haven't yet seen the movie. In any case I think so the highest grossing movie of 2009 and one of the best of the decade will have some nominations for sure. And technical aspect is the strongest for this movie so I guess they are kinda locked already
