 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $809.1m Worldwide (#23)
Germany (admissions):
893,169 1st weekend 857,286 2nd weekend 800,000 3rd weekend
Total by Sunday should be very close to 4m mark...
I expect a post holiday drop to 600,000 in its 4th weekend which would translate into 5m admissions after 25 days...
In US-$ AVATANIC should be at $55m by Sunday and $69m next Sunday...

And can you imagine, LOTRs on 3D - that's what I want and will be totally fuckingly mind blowing.........they need to go through a phase of converting classics to 3D like Star Wars, The Matrix and LOTRs on 3D. The Matrix on 3D is my wet dream I hope they do it

I have a strange feeling that my 2nd WE 400k adm. prediction for Poland is going to be a big underestimation. Let's just say that this weekend winner might be on level with last year similar weekend winner if I'm not mistaken.

With the weekend gross being very close to $70m (WOW), this will surely be above $1billion with international receipts now.

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $809.1m Worldwide (#23)
When is it beating ROTK? This Thursday? Friday at the latest.
And this is a far inferior film to Titanic, ROTK, and TDK. Those had at the least compelling narratives. Avatar stripped of the special effects (which will wear off with time) it's a profoundly shallow, juvenile film. It's like a fucking 12-year old boy wrote it.

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $809.1m Worldwide (#23)
Let's not get sentimental say things which are not true at all. I know that Avatar is not a great movie but still I would say that it has some compelling power of its own. I mean in the end you don't deny Jake going to the other side right?
It is just that these movies are the ones we are connected sentimentally and the day will soon come when we will be connected to Avatar as well.

Maybe then they'll realize he's an AVATAR and not the real thing. God those aliens are so fucking stupid. The film is visually compelling but tedious.

LOL, this movie was a lot more fun to track before I actually saw it.

The film is visually compelling but tedious. absolutely hilarious the way you wrote this. The point is that in this movie it is compelling and so it is not a stupid movie at all. But yes ROTK and Titanic in my opinion are far better than this. Then again ROTK requires a backup of 2 movies which again leaves me to Titanic..(sighs) my dear.....there is still a chance I guess. Be positive

I can't deal with that number. It's just too much for me to handle right now. I wonder how much Titanic would've made. But oh well.

Yay!
But let's face it, with a potential market of 1.3B, Titanic won't be in the top 1,000 in 50 years, heh.
Any chance you know the admissions for Titanic?

Any chance you know the admissions for Titanic? 18m I believe. And 360m yuan represented 1/4 of that year's total box office in China.

Or is that just true in the big cities? xiayun wrote: And 360m yuan represented 1/4 of that year's total box office in China. Now THAT is a big deal. Titanic drew roughly 1/3rd of North America's population, but accounted for less than 10% of the total box office. Even in France, where the film had almost 21m admissions out of a population of around 57m, it didn't get that high a percentage of the total admissions. Amazing. I wonder if it attracted a bigger share of the total box office anywhere else. Maybe Brazil.
