Pope Calls Gay Marriage Part of 'Ideology of Evil'
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=s ... pe_book_dc
In one section about the role of lawmakers, the Pope takes another swipe at gay marriages when he refers to "pressures" on the European Parliament to allow them.
"It is legitimate and necessary to ask oneself if this is not perhaps part of a new ideology of evil, perhaps more insidious and hidden, which attempts to pit human rights against the family and against man," he writes.
I totally don't agree with this. I'm not going to disrespect him though, because that would be low. I'm just saying that I don't agree with anything he is saying here, but I respect his opinion, and view on the subject. I just find it very untrue. Care to add your two cents?

Evil??? Well I respect the pope but he needs to get his facts straight. Instead of coming out against gay marriage, why does he not come out agains the war in iraq, in which thousands of peopel are dying...

Actually, what he said was pretty low.

Well...its complicated. The catholic church teaches that the pope has the....final say when it comes to certain things. The pope has come out EX-CATHEDRA(which is basically saying its the word of God, you have to abide/follow it on such things as...abortion, contraception.. and....convientyl Gy marriage. However the pope is to chicken to come out agains the war(although he disagrees with it) because he knows alot of the redneck right wingers wouldnt know what the hell to do.

Well, you can't put it this way. He represents an entire religion andsince he is supposed to stand for what the religion (i.e. the Bible) stands for, that is what he doing.

Note the Bible never condemned homosexuality, but homosexual sex.
If someone can prove me wrong, I'll retract my statement.
BTW-redneck right-wingers tend to be Protestants, not Catholics.

Personally ... I think he is commenting on the political pressure being leveled. I think he is commenting on the fact that churches are being pressured to allow things, I think he feels almost as if the gay community is trying to force themselves upon his religion.

I'm sorry, but the Pope could care less what the "Redneck white voters", most of whom are not even Catholic, are thinking./
His faith requires him to say things like that; it's something Christians have to live with.

What's with this "I have to respect the Pope because he's the Pope" stuff? What he said was hateful, stupid, and reckless. He should be called out for it.
I have about as much authority as the Pope, I just don't have as many people who believe it.

Your statement is correct. Homosexual love is not forbiden or condemned, homosexual sex is, though.

I'm sure there are many, but the Republican-voting states, mostly in the Great Plains and South are disproportionately Protestant.
