so it did around $63M on monday and tuesday overseas!!!

So it was down slightly from last week's Mon-Wed period, by about 20%

I don't think wednesday was included, or was it.

NO. Only till Tuesday 29th

I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed flat compared to last weekend ($145 million I believe) or increases. I believe theatres were actually closed on Christmas Day in some countries, and New Year's is more of a "Let's go to the cinema!" day than Christmas over here, at least.

BOM says till 29th. Maybe it includes wednesday number for some markets but I doubt it. If the weekdays domestically are any indication then it should be performing better overseas than last week.

When did BOM update OS numbers for the weekdays last week, on the same day or a day after?

Shit, let me make it more clear what a meant. Say tuesday grosses, did BOM add those on tuesday or wednesday?

That's the full foreign week total right? Add another $125m for a total of $600m OS or thereabouts

monday and tuesday.

I'm being very generous here...

$250m + $20m (wed) + $20m (Thu) + $60m for the weekend = $350m Domestic by Sunday (very generous)

And overseas, even if it doesn't include wednesday's gross

$476m + $30m (Wed) + $130m (weekend) = $630m

Would still be short WW...

I'm thinking more like $340-350m Domestic + $610-$630m.

Though the Sunday grosses will be deflated slightly because it's back to work in most countries.

BOM says as of 29th December 2009, which I believe means BO gross as of 29th December 2009.

Meanwhile, "Avatar" continues to show strong legs at the Indian box office having collected $10.7 million in 10 days of release, including $2.1 million in its second weekend. The 3D version accounts for 25% of the film's B.O.

HAH! Variety had to release a press statement about 3 Idiot's phenomenal BO.

Well there are only 58 screens in India playing Avatar in 3D so that shouldn't come as a surprise. However, by end of next year we should have 100+ 3D screens.

True, but I still expect it to pretty much match the gross from the Christmas weekend. Last year the comparable weekend (last weekend of the Christmas holidays) saw little to no decreases in many markets, and that didn't have the added boost from New Year's Day.

Positive thoughts, Archie! :P

for a movie without any redeeming qualities, avatar does quite well. then again, so did many other movies without any redeeming qualities (such as that other one by cameron 2.0).
