Fuck you Fox and your estimates!!!

Avatar OW in Poland is 315 143 admission and that gave 7 803 451 PLN ( 2 738 053 $ ). Now that's more like it. Still it's a lock for increase next weekend. Today cinemas were packed like crazy. I just came from my second viewing ( rating goes from A+ to A++) in IMAX and it was sold out ( 400 seats ). Crowd loved it.

POLAND - Opening Weekend

Thanks for the actuals Mesjarch. THis is crazy, jumps right into the Top 10 at #6 for the largest opening weekend regardless of days. Though just to show how expensive each ticket was, the admissions tally was barely more than half that of Shrek 2 and ROTK which both have lower US$ grossers.

The current US$ record holder Lejdis (2008) at $18.5m and Shrek 3 $17.8m looks in jeopardy.

1) Shrek 3 - $4,373,694 (793,753 adms. or $4,371,684/ 793,381 adms. without p/v - 136)
2) Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa - $4,016,731 (or $3,222,133 3-Day - 130)
3) 2012 - $3.9m (604.994 adms. 5-Day or $2.28m/353.376 adms. 3-Day - 141)*Independence Day
4) Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs - $3,210,926 (or $2,033,761 3-Day - 170)
5) Indiana Jones: The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull - $2,733,253 (or $1,751,118 3-Day - 137)
6) Avatar - $2,738,053 (315,143 adms./ 7,803,451 PLN - 235)
7) Shrek 2 - $2,509,090 (615.489 adms. or $2,303,026/ 565.595 adms. without p/v - 101)
8) Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - $2,429,478 (592.741 adms. 4-Day or $1,813,534 3-Day or $3,150,374 week - 150)
9) Kung Fu Panda - $2,272,746 (or $1,462,786 without p/v - 129)
10) Lejdis (2008) - $2,129,108 (160)

Nie Klam, Kochanie (2008) - $2,092,059 (or $2,081,713 3-Day - 156)

Eh, I think it has a shot at $900m, maybe even $1B overseas, doesn't it? China and Italy are still coming up.

France is INSANE. Already over $50m? Crazy.

The only slight dissapointment out of the major markets.

Hopefully it'll do gangbusters this week.

some comparisons to RT's report....one thing though, the current 2nd weekend record is held by Shrek at just over AUD$8.5m. ScreenDaily is reporting $8.4m for Avatar.

I see $50m being locked.

AUSTRALIA - Weekend 2

Harry Potter 6: HBP - $29,642,267 ($6,462,870, -55%)
Avatar - $28.5m ($8.4m, -30%)
Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen - $27,235,703 ($6,269,589, -54%)
Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - $26,671,665 ($7,686,250, -40%)
The Twilight Saga: New Moon - $26,276,913 ($6,029,668, -63%)
The Dark Knight - $25,898,496 ($7,626,120, -35%)
Lord Of The Rings: TTT - $25,844,984 ($6,225,127, -56%)
Harry Potter 5: OOTP - $25,608,383 ($5,179,594, -60%)
Shrek 2 - $25,340,125 ($8,502,965, -35%)
Lord Of The Rings: FOTR - $24,118,897 ($5,872,528, -40%)
The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe - $23,894,476 ($3,876,439, -42%)
Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest - $22,944,969 ($7,037,231, -37%)
Star Wars 3: ROTS - $22,638,420 ($6,421,037, -52%)
The Simpsons Movie - $21,973,691 ($6,157,635, -53%)
Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - $21,145,561 ($6,289,576, -48%)

8.4 was an early estimate 4 day weekend will be north of 8.7mil, actually come out later today, monday adds 3.5-6mil to the holiday weekend total (monday will wind up being the biggest day so far)

Fuck. Are you serious, Monday (it's freakin 13th day on release) being the largest day with a chance at AUD$6m (record) that would be massive.

Titanic is going down.

Perhaps, though would probably need a couple weeks of massive increases.

More Details:

James Cameron’s sci-fi powerhouse played on 14,686 screens in 108 markets. Combined with the $212.7m North American take, Avatar has amassed $625.9m worldwide.

* International business was driven by impressive holds and Fox’s highest non-franchise launch in Japan on $14.5m (¥1.3bn) from 749 screens, which was also Fox’s fourth highest launch behind the Star Warsfranchise. The 283 3D screen count comprised 38% of the entire count and accounted for 75% of box office.
* In second weekend holdovers, Avatar grossed a further $21.8m from 1,114 in France for $51.7m, $13.6m from 1,329 in Russia for $44.2m, $12.8m from 1,138 in Germany for $34.2m, $12.5m from 800 in Spain for $28.8m, and $6.5m from 735 in South Korea for $23.4m. It is Fox’s highest and the industry’s fourth highest Hollywood release in South Korea after ten days.
* The film added $6.1m from 496 in the UK for $28.4m and $5.6m from 1,478 in Mexico for $15.1m and is now the second highest industry release of 2009 behind Ice Age 3.
* Elsewhere Avatar added $5.3m from 654 in Brazil after a 5% climb to stand at $13.9m following the highest second weekend in industry history, and added $2.8m from 71 in Hong Kong following a 44% rise to stand at $6.9m. It is the third highest Fox release ever and the seventh highest industry release after 11 days.
* Latest figures put Taiwan at $7.8m, Holland at $6m, India at $10.7m, Sweden at $5.3m, Switzerland at $4.4m, and Singapore at $4.2m, where Avatar is the second highest Fox release ever behind Titanic on SGD 5.3m.
* In other records, Avatar overtook Titanic in Malaysia to become the highest Fox release in history on $3.5m, and overtook Ice Age 3 in Indonesia to become Fox’s biggest release ever on $2.9m..

The film grossed $3.367m on IMAX screens in a new IMAX record. So far Avatar has amassed $11.3m internationally and should overtake the $15m record within two or three days. The global IMAX take for Avatarstands at $35m.

:disgust:

So it did only $1.4M this weekend in India. Yep it isn't beating 2012, Titanic and SM3 in India

But it's not going to be too far off, let it go. There are bigger grosses made elsewhere. FRANCE, GERMANY, AUSTRALIA, SPAIN...... :P

As I mentioned earlier, in French B.O. forums they're raising the final tally from 8m to 10m admissions...
