Looks like the BOM number is already outdated...

Avatar grossed much more in its second weekend than Fox International originally estimated, adding $152.8m for $413.2m

some comparisons to RT's report....one thing though, the current 2nd weekend record is held by Shrek at just over AUD$8.5m. ScreenDaily is reporting $8.4m for Avatar.

Nice, I was wondering what it did over the weekend here. To get that total, it must have grossed around €1.9 here, or a 56% increase over its opening weekend.

I'll finally be adding my own euros tomorrow. :)

Hmm that would be 220k admissions. Not bad but expected more. It's a lock for big jump next weekend. It will do Passion of the Christ run, which is okay with me.

POLAND - Opening Weekend

5th largest opening of 2009, just outside the Top 10. Just realised how big 2012's opening is here, more than double that of Avatar's.

1) Shrek 3 - $4,373,694 (793,753 adms. or $4,371,684/ 793,381 adms. without p/v - 136)
2) Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa - $4,016,731 (or $3,222,133 3-Day - 130)
3) 2012 - $3.9m (141)
4) Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs - $3,210,926 (or $2,033,761 3-Day - 170)
5) Indiana Jones: The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull - $2,733,253 (or $1,751,118 3-Day - 137)
6) Shrek 2 - $2,509,090 (615.489 adms. or $2,303,026/ 565.595 adms. without p/v - 101)7) Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - $2,429,478 (592.741 adms. 4-Day or $1,813,534 3-Day or $3,150,374 week - 150)
8) Kung Fu Panda - $2,272,746 (or $1,462,786 without p/v - 129)
9) Lejdis (2008) - $2,129,108 (160)
10) Nie Klam, Kochanie (2008) - $2,092,059 (or $2,081,713 3-Day - 156)

Lord Of The Rings: FOTR - $2m (518.901 adms. - 109)
Harry Potter 6: HBP - $1,985,554 (or $1,981,305 3-Day - 196)
Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - $1,971,666 (422,611 adms. - 107) or $2,176,387 by Mon
Kochaj I Tancz (2009) - $1,855,196 (152)
Harry Potter 4: GOF - $1,805,786 (417.421 adms. or $1,800,693/ 416.569 adms. 3-Day without p/v - 179)
Avatar - $1.8m (235)
The Da Vinci Code - $1,766,850 (341,095 adms. - 123)
Up - $1,753,625 (or $1,655,908 3-Day - 200)
Harry Potter 5: OOTP - $1,736,095 (310,975 adms. - 176)
James Bond: Quantum Of Solace - $1,676,943 (108)
Lord Of The Rings: TTT - $1,627,304 (464.944 adms. - 135)
The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian - $1,599,988 (or $1,563,493 3-Day - 188)
Star Wars 3: ROTS - $1,522,485 (5,074,900 ZLO/ 332.820 adms. 4-Day or $1,183,779 3-Day - 163)

I wouldn't compare OW of 2012 to OW of Avatar. 2012 had 5 Day opening in November with first day being an Independence Day, which help it a lot, while Avatar opened on Christmas Day ( second worse weekend of the year after Easter weekend ). OW above 200k admission in December in Poland is very impressive. Biggest OW in December has made 150k adm. and it was after Christmas.

Thanks for the clarification, i've found the actual admissions tally for the opening weekend

3) 2012 - $3.9m (604.994 adms. 5-Day or 353.376 adms. 3-Day - 141)*Independence Day

which means that it did about $2.28m for the regular 3-Day weekend, still larger than Avatar,.

For a foreign release yes, but the locals still dominate with The Host the current record holder at US$90m, followed by The King And The Clown at $84m.
