I put up some projections of my own, although most only indicate Weekend drops in respect of the friday falloffs.

I guess that sounds right. I'm in denial that it will decrease on Saturday, but it's inevitable.

great number for the grudge I see a 40m+ wknd (dont think it will drop today) for it. BJs is suprised that SC bombed the way it did he thought for shure the film would pass 8m for the wknd awewell it doesnt matter much from what Ive read the movie suck. Great holds for all films great wknd over all maybe well get another wknd with the top 12 over 100m 8)

I am really surprised with the Friday number for The Grudge. This movie is not very good.

I really figured that SC would have been able to pull in better numbers then that.

That is just fantastic for The Grudge!
I am so happy for SMG:)
I was hoping that it would get a 10-11mil opening day, and it gets 15+mil. That is more than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (TCM), Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil (both).
I think that this would be best compared with TCM as that also opened around the same time last year, neither got very good reviews, and the whole horror-thing. TCM fell less than 2% on Sat, and then a little over 37% on Sunday. So if The Grudge were to follow about the same pattern then The Grudge could make about 38mil this weekend. TCM also had a mult just under 3 so i think that The Grudge has a real shot at 100mil.
Saw is coming out next weekend but the theater count could be the deciding factor. Saw doesn't seem like it is going to get a lot of theaters, so i think that The Grudge will hold up pretty well against it.

My Pred for the weekend and total:

Fri- 15.2mil
Sat- 14.4mil
Sun- 8.8mil
Weekend- 38.4mil
Total- 101-110mil

Amazing for The Grudge. It will be very frontloaded, though.

 at Surviving Christmas. at my mutilated Derby.

The Grudge will probobly have a frontloaded opening, but i dont necessarily see a frontloaded total run. The pic has been called the scariest film in a very long time and even critics who didnt like the movie pretty much agree

EXTREMELY GOOD for The Grudge!! WOW!!!

It'll fall about 40% - 50% next weekend, since it'll be the weekend before Halloween, then about 60% in it's third weekend. I see about a 90 - 115 total for it.

I agree JB...The Grudge isn't that great even compared to something like THe Forgotten and I'm surprised that there wasn't worse word of mouth from sneak previews earlier in the week..the audience I saw it with seemed rather bored by the whole thing.

I thought The Grudge would do well, but not that well!!

Also another Ben Affleck bomb, ughh, why do movie studios still let him lead movies?

Well, I'm off to see The Grudge in a minute.

Hopefully, I'll like it as much as makeshift did (even though I'm a huge sissy at horror movies  ).

 at the Grudge. Could we see a 100 million gross. With Halloween around the corner, we might.

That is not too bad of a drop for Team America. I was expecting worse.

And  at Surviving Christmas. Gigli 2 anyone?

I predicted in another thread that it would be the first movie to make 40+ and not make 100 total. I stand by that, though personally I wouldn't mind if it made more, but it's just a prediction.

I'm gonna agree with you there, but I think it will get really close to $100. Awesome opening, though!
