That's pretty good for Chirstmas eve and Chirstmas Day. This means that it made around $2m around those days which is fantastic, Boxing Day should rise to at least $4m I think (may even be close to LOTR's opening day with the high ticket prices) and perhaps another $3m or so on Sunday with a public holiday on Monyda to makeup for Boxing Day which fell on a Saturday this year.

$50m+ i tell yah.

Yeah it was. I liked the book, but Ron Howard should have been forced to give his Oscar back after making this.

Post Re: Avatar (INTL.)
I'm predicting a worldwide gross around $500-$525m after 2 weekends, this is fast encroaching on Pirates 3 and HP6 level grosses.

Both of those pics floundered after 4 weekends, so Avatar should have no problems beating both. I see Avatar taking over the worldwide #1 spot from weeks #5-#10, at which point, Titanic should then take over.

I have decided not to predict OW for Avatar in Poland because it's hard like hell to judge what's going on.

One thing is sure that Imax numbers will be more than 22-23k adm because you can't get tickets for those for next 8 days. With 5 Imax theaters in Poland that's avg 4.5k adm per Imax theater. Nice :D

So... On December 31st one local theatre is dropping Avatar to one show per day per screen(two screens). On the same day, the other theatre is dropping one screen(to one) and also reduce shows to one per day. So, just 3 shows per day per town.

Thus, Holmes and to some extent Princess&Frog is gonna own Avatar on the main holidays(1-10 Jan) in my town. Not good.

Good news from Germany... It looks like AVATAR should stay even with 900,000 admissions, it can flirt with the 1m mark too.
That is very remarkable as in 1998 movies dropped 25 % on average...

Avatar is a WOM monster. Almost everyone I know has seen it already or are planning too. Even my mother who wasn't in a theater in god knows how long wants too see it. It's amazing. I'm going to watch it for the third time either tomorrow or on monday, this time on IMAX. :D

So it's going to be at around 2.5m admissions after this weekend. Nice, through in another 800k adms-1m admissions or so for the next Mon-Wed....and then another 1m for the NY weekend and it'll be looking at around 4.5m by 2010.

Very good for Germany.

Worldwide weekends are 5-Day openings, some countries report the full 5-Days, some report 4 days (i.e. Australia/New Zealand and some smaller Euro countries), others have 3-Days, while Japan is like 2-Days.

From earlier post, only 7 report 5 days, 3 report 2 days, rest 3/4 days (at least 40 4days, around 55 do 3day)

It's average, but compelling. I liked the background stuff about the 'sacred feminine' and Paganism.

Yeah it's entertaining but the writing is bad.

That's nice, right where i kinda thought it would be given the previous days. Should be good for around $8m-$9m then depending on how it holds on Sunday. 2nd weekend record for sure.

Hell yah, if it can drop just 25% in it's 2nd weekend hit by Christmas Eve and Christmas Day which fell on it's wekeend, i'm sure the European countries will do even better. Judging by the mid-weeks and the strength in general - coupled with new openings such as Japan this is on course to do very close to the original weekend i think.
