Just to show well it's doing mid-week. It's opening weekend of 893.169 admissions ranks #85 of All-Time......however, the opening week estimates above by Mark suggests that this will climb as high as #50 Opening Week.

It still has a long way to go though catching up to the likes of Harry Potter and LOTR in admissions, both of which sold a shitload of tickets in their first three weeks.

AVATAR RECORDS 7TH BIGGEST OPENING WEEK OF ALL-TIME IN AUSTRALIA !

AVATAR grossed a massive $19,302,196 in its opening week (17 - 23) @ 588 screens which is an amazing $32,827 PSA !

Combining this impressive number with its Wed 16th previews gross of $931,125, AVATAR has a total box office cume of $20,233,321 in Australia.

This opening week is more than two million higher than that of The Dark Knight in July 08. However, this number is a mere $300K below LOTR: TTT & HP: OOTP & $400K below that of TF: ROTF earlier this year.

:noway: :noway: :noway: :noway:

Those numbers are insane, absolutely spectacular

Not disputing this, but I'm curious if the source has numbers from any countries this time. Where did you get this?

Hey do you know how much Avatar has done in its 1st week in India?

3 idiots is going to hurt it badly but I hope it can beat at least SM3 total in India if not Titanic and 2012

SO Monday was - 28.3M
Tuesday ~ 29M
Wednesday - 37M

That is just insane. I think it will be over 400M as of this weekend. I think AWE still holds record after 2nd weekend( 410M?) and avatar could challenge that despite having much weaker OW.

It probably includes the Japan opening. Maybe, not sure if that would count towards the tuesday or wednesday total.

Yeah, it opened the 23rd in Japan to $4.38m (might not be official quite yet, it's still sort of an estimate).

The remaining countries:

Poland - 12/25
Argentina - 1/1
Georgia and China - 1/2
Italy - 1/15

I know there must be a valid explanation, but why wait until the 15th to release in Italy?

Apparently there's a local comedy set to be released that will dominate the holidays, so they wanted to avoid that.

If it gets $400m domestic, that's far more impressive than $700m overseas.

Both are equally impressive marks, though Avatar looks to be starring down $800m moreso than $700m.

SOUTH KOREA - Opening Weekend

Didn't crack the Top 10 largest opening of all-time but still a massive opening which is this year's 3rd largest and teh 2nd largest for a foreign release. It outopened 2012 which did extremely well in South Korea.

1) D-War - $18,794,245 (or $13,186,391 3-Day - 700)
2) Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - $18.4m (5-Days - 623)

I surrender who I've been for who you are
Nothing makes me stronger than your fragile heart
If I had only felt how it feels to be yours
I would have known what I've been living for all along
What I've been living for
