 Will Avatar claim the Dec. Opening Weekend Record? It needs to beat 2007's I Am Legend ($77,211,321).
Tracking
I Am Legend: MTC - 64 , RS - 42
Avatar: MTC - 72, RS - Almost High 60's
The I Am Legend tracking definitely was a sign it was going to challenge Return of the King's Dec. OW record, and it ended up beating it.
The tracking for Avatar isn't quite as good (while higher, I Am Legend still had better tracking), but it is opening with weaker competition and is the first male oriented film in over a month, which should give it the boost to open above MTC's 72.
So, yes or no, will Avatar beat I Am Legend this weekend?

Anyway - I think a good omen would be if AVATAR opens to $73m-77m - that would be the second biggest December opening of all-time - a feat shared by TITANIC 12 years ago...
