 Re: Adventureland
Loved; - Jesse Eisenberg - Its care to the supporting characters; particularly Martin Starr's character
Hated; - The script which was (most of the time) predictable and what was that with the Hollywood-ish happy ending.. eww
Meh; everything else
So, C+
PS. is it me or this film doesn't feel like '1987' at all

 Re: Adventureland
I kinda half watched it after being moderately bored by the beginning, so I don't know how qualified I am to give an opinion - but generally I thought it was a bit dull. Kinda felt like a ham-fisted attempt to mimic the appeal of Dazed and Confused, but without the interesting characters or hook.

ADVENTURELAND - 8/10 (A-)
This was great. Loved the soundtrack! I thought Kristen Stewart was very good, and Kristen Wiig is quite funny in her limited screentime.

 Re: Adventureland
Adventureland is a wonderful comedy that was marketed completely wrong. The entire cast is wonderful on screen especially rising star Jesse Eisenberg. Ryan Reynolds, Kristen Wigg, Bill Hader do well with their supporting roles, and heck even Kristen Stewart is not bad. The film tells a strong story throughout the process and doesn't rely on gross humor or kiddish behavior (well there is the constant fist to balls that does get a little tiring) to drive the film along. It's another wonderful comedy to the year and though I'm not quite sure of it at the moment, it may be the best comedy of the year taking over I Love You, Man. ***1/2

Adventureland
It's basically teenagers acting like they've got the weight of the world on their shoulders, and for me that's not a very interesting synopsis for a movie. Kind of nothing happens either besides two good scenes. One of them is when Eisenberg gets chased into the managers office then the manager comes out with a bat, scares away the threat, then seamlessly resumes his work inside the office, and the other scene is on the grass near the end talking about Herman Melville when Eisenberg gets revenge on his idiot friend. Other than that, it's kind of uninteresting. The first half is especially dull.
I can't stand Jesse Eisenberg's voice and delivery. He has short, sharp bursts of monotonic nervousness, and he acts like that in every role. He showed a few signs of acting in this, but he's still not a very good actor. He can't even laugh on cue (which is shown at dinner with his folks one evening). He kind of ruins this movie, and if it were another more animated young actor, I think I'd have enjoyed it more. Although, his wooden acting kind of suits Zombieland. Kristen Stewart shows some ability here, but she's still largely the same miserable, repressed and uncharismatic drip that she is in the Twilight movies. Ryan Reynolds is actually pretty good, and he did just enough to differentiate himself from other roles.
With two x-land titles under his belt, I just wish Eisenberg had starred in Freedomland to complete his trilogy.
C+
