Chéri - 8/10 (B+)

Rupert Friend is positively delicious :wub2:. Unfortunately he doesn't look nearly this good in The Young Victoria.

Does the size of the title and grade reflect the size of your Friend every time Rupert was on screen? :P

Stephen Frears is a great director and has some really good sensibilities when it comes to costume dramas like this one (Dangerous Liaisons was great), but this is clearly one of his lesser works. Rupert Friend is bland as hell in this one. Michelle Pfeiffer still looks incredible for her age, but her performance kind of left me wishing for more. I really did like the very last scene, though. Also good: the scenes between Kathy Bates and Michelle Pfeiffer.

For the most of its running time, however, it was just a pretty nothing. Good sets, costumes...absolutely unengaging story and uninvolving characters.
