I am avid throw out the magazines kind of girl, i ahve been reading EW since 1990, but I never keep up.

New Yorker is a great magazine, I do not subscribe, my boyfriend's parents get the magazine so I loan his mother Vogue and Vanity Fair and she lets me read The New Yorker.

To my wife's dismay, I have every issue since day 1. Do you have the issue number or date?

No, I can't remember, except this: It has Titanic on the cover and the main article is about whether the film will flop or if it can even get back its budget (heh!), so I'm guessing the magazine came out just before the film was released. The article I am in is about the upcoming slew of animated films, specifically Prince of Egypt, and I am quoted by the author because of my background in animation critiquing. (I'm mentioned as the founder of "Animato" magazine in the article). If you could find that and xerox the article for me, I would be most grateful and if you're willing to sell the magazine I would be even more grateful!

Mike

The Proquest service has every article from EW...EVER, I believe.

My account isn't working, though. I think box_2005 (or neostorm - both go to University of Toronto) has an account and you should try asking him if he can find "Mike Ventrella" in the text of any article. That'll give you the information you need to find a copy on eBay (or, if you're satisfied with the text or pdf file of the article on Proquest, that), I think.

Our very own MikeV takes on the K at Dreamworks SKG. =D> =D> =D>

Issue # 404 November 7, 1997

About Prince of Egypt

Some people call it outrageous hubris. "Katzenberg still wants to show up Disney and his former boss Michael Eisner," says Mike Ventrella, founder of Animato magazine. "Jeffrey is saying, 'The Cecil B. DeMille of animation has arrived!' Well, this film better be the Second Coming meets Gone With the Wind." (Katzenberg declined to comment for this story)

Wow, you found it! I got as nasty letter from Terry Press after that article -- he's in charge of Dreamworks' public relations. What an ass.

Thanks for sharing! See -- I wasn't making it up! (I think there was a second quote from me in there as well).

Now I know what issue to look for.

I believed you (not everyone on the net makes stuff up).

What did Press say in the letter?

It was so long ago, I don't remember completely, but it was something along the lines of "Who do you think you are? No one is claiming to be Cecil B. DeMille blah blah blah." It was only a nasty paragraph or so. I sent a copy to Entertainment Weekly thinking it might make an interesting follow up bit, but they didn't print it.
