Hmm, I'd call anything above $8 million a break-out.

If MTC did not have it tracking at 22 million I would to. But to me a Break Out is when a movie goes beyound tracking like IB and D9 did.

Forget the tracking. Tracking has been so off lately that I see no reason to compare anything to it...

While Zombieland did not do all that great at the theatre I work for, it brought in a little over $1700 here, it did however have a really good pta for the company $3,220. I say it will do between 9.5-10 million Friday.
Toystory 1&2 had a $1,480 company average. I would say a 2.2-2.7 million Friday would be in store for it.
The Invention of Lying had a company average of $1,069. A 1.7-2 million Friday looks to be right
Whip It Bomb hard, the company average for it was around $514, so look for a .7-1 million Friday

I sooooooooo hope you're wrong about WHIP IT. They'd have been better off starting it out in limited release.

Zombieland:
80-85% full in a 350-400 seater.

Crowd loved this movie. They went nuts for it. Huge laughs, and a crazy burst of applause at a certain scene, with several smaller bursts at various points in the film.

I quite loved it too. One of the most fun films and times I've had at the theater in a while.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Toy Story 3D Double Feature
10/02/09, 7:00 PM, 300-seater (60% full)

Trailers
Planet 51
A Christmas Carol (3D)
Toy Story 3 (3D)- The first full trailer and it was beautiful

Movie
The Toy Story films are some of my favorite films out there and seeing them on the big screen for the first time (well actually it was the second time for me seeing #2 on the big screen) was a wonderful joy. The 3D experience just enhances these films even more and makes them that more enjoyable. The intermission bits were wonderful as well as they were filled with fun treats and creative little shorts. The audience was all into it and it was one of the best movie experiences I've had in a while. Just so much fun

Well I was a bit wrong, but this is still not much better. ;)

You're right, it's not much better, but thankfully it at least doubled your prediction ;). Thanks to you though I wasn't as disappointed when the actual numbers came out because I was expecting worse :P.

I wonder if your theater will get PARANORMAL ACTIVITY next weekend.

Toy Story 3D Double Feature
10/02/09, 12:55 PM, I think it's a 298-seater -- no more than 25-ish people (lots of kids)

Trailers
With Toy Story 1 -- Alice in Wonderland (3D -- OMGWOW); Nightmare Before Christmas (3D); I think that was it
With Toy Story 2 -- A Christmas Carol (3D); Toy Story 3 (3D -- just the old teaser; no new footage)

Movie(s)
I've seen Toy Story 1 I don't know HOW many times, but with the 3D aspect, it felt like I was seeing it for the first time. I only saw it once on the big screen when it first came out, so that was... what? 14 yrs ago?

It was good, except I did start to get a headache after Pizza Planet when everything was so dark at Sid's... I actually started nodding off because my eyes kept closing to get rid of the headache.

As for Toy Story 2? Utterly MAGNIFICENT. I would have paid the $9.50 ($7 matinee +$2.50 upcharge) solely to watch the opening sequence in digital 3D. AMAZING.

I've really never paid attention to it before, but TS2's visuals really are quite an improvement over TS1's. Everything is quite lush. The grass looks real, and when Al is sleeping on the couch and Woody is trying to get his arm back, I could swear Al looked almost photo-realistic.

Toy Story 2 was just so fantastic. I really would consider going back and watching just that one again. So WONDERFUL.

COMPLAINT

I'm not even going to start on the horrid 3D glasses... I could rant all day about them.

No, my complaint is with the way the double feature was presented at my theater. One would think with it being a new state-of-the-art theater along the lines of an AMC, it would have presented the movies as they seem to have been presented elsewhere.

But, no. We had no Toy Story 3 full-length trailer, no Toy Story trivia & etc between movies. Before TS1, we had a special kids-aimed NCM pre-show called "Play" which highlighted a bunch of Disney stuff as well as Planet 51, etc. During the intermission, there was a brief point when there was nothing happening, then they played the "Play" pre-show again!

So, I'm very disappointed concerning the presentation.

But, the movies in 3D were so good that I really can't complain too much.

Why not just upgrade to contacts, tina? They're tough at first, but the benefits waaay outnumber the cons.

I did a trial the last time I went to the eye doctor... It didn't go very well. I have issues with things getting near my eyes, and trying to put something in them? Yeah, that didn't go well at all.

If I ever have the money to go to the eye doctor again (it's been several years; I'm still on my first pair of glasses), I might try contacts again... If it means having a better experience watching 3D movies, I might be able to handle it...

Ya, the eye touching thing is a big one to get over. Although, I still can't put eyedrops in my eye, but yet can use contacts. Just takes a lot of practice, but it's cheaper in the long run. Plus you can actually see when you go swim! (As long as you don't open your eyes underwater).

Anyways, saw Zombieland this morning at 11:40. 100 people in a 500 seater. Movie was amazing, everything I had hoped for.

It was exactly like that for me. I remember I tried contacts when I was like 13. I got a trial pair and absolutely could not do it. It was too hard going near my eye. Then I tried them again when I was 16 and it went much better. They are hard to get used to at first, but then it's like nothing once you do. I have absolutely no problem putting my finger on my eye now. BUT I still have a hard time with eye drops. I always make someone else do drops for me.

Anyway, contacts are so worth it. I wouldn't go back. Though I did get a pair of glasses for around the house sometimes. It was hard to get used to those again. I rarely wear them.

The only time I ever saw one of my best friends cry was when one of her contacts slipped to the side of her eye... Freaked me the hell out.

Definitely would consider trying them again, though, if it means better comfort when watching 3D movies.

Except... I hated the shape of the glasses they used for Toy Story. The earpieces/frames dug into my temples; didn't help with the headache I got during TS1's dark scenes.

I rather like the glasses I've got from when I saw Nightmare Before Christmas & Meet the Robinsons. They're like actual glasses, just oversized. The ones for Toy Story were more like tight, annoying sunglasses...

Wow...even without the extra show Zombieland went up 37%.

Then again, yesterday's business was subdued at your theatre, I remember.

Toy Story is looking at a huge surge.

Whip It's performance is quite pathetic...

Seems like awesome increases for everything, especially Cloudy. Zombieland went up 48% in straight ticket sales, obviously won't be as much nationwide though.

Rain= People going to the movies (around here at least)

Zombieland actually droped company average.

Saw the TS1/2 double feature at 2:20PM today.

About 80-90% full.

Great time!
