Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports: 10/02-04
My theater isn't getting CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY, oddly enough. All of the openers besides ZOMBIELAND are on 1 screen. ZOMBIELAND is getting 2. All signs point to ZOMBIELAND doing well this weekend (theater count, getting two screens at a lot of theaters, tracking) and yet I still have a hard time seeing it doing really well. I saw a TV spot last night that really didn't show much that would get someone interested in it, IMO. Plus it's Rated-R, and we all know how R-Rated horror has been doing lately. Last weekend's SURROGATES was tracking at over 20 Million too and ended up with below 15 Million. I don't see ZOMBIELAND making over 15 Million.

Ah, but Zombieland is really an R-rated comedy.

The first screen of Paranormal Activity has sold out already at the AMC Metreon in SF for tonight. (And it's only 10:30am!) They've added a 2nd screen.

Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports: 10/02-04
My 7:00 showing of Toy Story was damn near sold out in a 287 seat theater. Just random seats scattered throughout the front of the theater.

Seems decent for TOY STORY and LYING, but not so hot for ZOMBIELAND and especially WHIP IT. ZOMBIELAND is not breaking out.

I saw Zombieland at my theatre tonight and the 9 showing had about 200 people, and there was a 10pm showing as well... not bad at all IMO

Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports: 10/02-04
It was doing very well at my theater, I saw lots of people buying tickets to it. I haven't seen the theater this packed in quite awhile.

Lying is doing pretty good. Probably should've stuck with the polls and predicting a bigger number.
$10m Friday is still possible for Zombieland.

That would be God-awful for Whip It!
I guess the mixture of sports-thematics and female-orientation turned off both genders.

True Reports have been very underwhelming and there has not been many( if any) sell out reported yet but lets wait and see how it deos. with a 9 million friday it should do atleast 22 million weekend. Not a Break Out but not a Break Under aswell.
