Your favorite movie of summer 2009?
Well, the summer is coming to an end and since it is rather unlikely that Gamer or All About Seve will top anyone's favorites list I might just as well ask this now.
IMO, it was a very fulfilling and interesting summer, even though most of the great films were not the expected action-blockbusters.
I have seen almpst all of the biggies with the biggest omission being Up (still waiting for the release).
My Top 5 so far are:
1. Star Trek 2. The Hurt Locker 3. District 9 4. Orphan 5. The Hangover
However only #1 and #2 are pretty certain, after that there are about 5-6 films that are all really close.

i can't decide between D9, Star Trek and The Hangover. i'll go with The Hangover cause it had Mike Tyson.

Re: Your favorite movie of summer 2009?
1. DRAG ME TO HELL 2. ORPHAN 3. (500) DAYS OF SUMMER
I didn't see THAT many summer movies, but none of the others I did see matter. I believe the only others I saw were ICE AGE 3, BRUNO, THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE, THE FINAL DESTINATION, and THE UGLY TRUTH.

G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra Drag Me To Hell The Final Destination The Proposal
I haven't seen an awful film this year.
Funny People and Year One look like the turkeys of the summer in my opinion.

The Hangover Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Inglourious Basterds G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Star Trek
The order changes a lot. I think Inglourious Basterds might be my favorite of the year so far.

Re: Your favorite movie of summer 2009?
On the mainstream side this summer was pretty meh, but it had some great indie releases: My top 5: 1) Uh, duh (500) days of summer 2) Moon 3) Star Trek 4) UP 5) District 9 Honorable nominee- Inglorious Basterds
Without moon and 500dos it's a pretty weak summer, but with them it was pretty solid, especially with Away We Go as the little cherry on top.

Re: Your favorite movie of summer 2009?
haven't seen Hurt Locker or 500 Days yet, or Adam for that matter...
1. West of Pluto 2. Inglourious Basterds 3. Up 4. District 9 5. Funny People 6. Star Trek 7. The Hangover 8. Brüno 9. Away We Go 10. Orphan Harry Potter's always fun, too.
damn, it was a pretty great summer, even though most people seemed to have generally disliked it.

Re: Your favorite movie of summer 2009?
I think it's a testament to the quality of this summer that a movie like Star Trek that was well-liked and beloved by most posters here still stands at 2 votes and movies like The Hurt Locker and District 9 got none.

Re: Your favorite movie of summer 2009?
Best double feature: Tyson & The Hangover ... But only in that order Best comedy: Land of the Lost (Runner up: Bruno) Best action movies: Tie: District 9, Gamer, The Hurt Locker, and GI Joe: The Rise of Coba Best revisionist movie: Star Trek (runner up: Inglorious Basterds) Best sequel: Transformers 2 (runner up: Ice Age 3D. Wow, for such an unimaginative summer there were relatively few of these.) Best arthouse flick: Revanche (runner up: Pontypool) Best weekend of the summer: May 29th (Up + Drag Me to Hell were both wonderful)
