The Inception predictions, to me, seem way too high. Can someone explain why it has a shot at 300m, which all the predictions (minus Krissy) have been around?

It sort of reminds me of Public Enemies and the 200m+ predictions for it.

IM2 will have the SECOND biggest OW of all time
Shrek 4 will make less than 250m domestically
Shrek 4 will make more than 700m WW.
The A-Team will bomb with less than 100m
Toy Story 3 will become the 2nd biggest animated movie domestically
The Last Airbender will make more than 200m domestically
Inception will make over 75m OW and 250m domestically.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Who knows if the A-Team will come out in 2010 or not. They only have half the cast signed. Still need a B.A and Murdock along with a couple of other characters. Not sure how they can get it done for June 10.

it's on Mojo.

It has family appeal, will look awesome, and the teaser is just a silly teaser, the shot at the end is garnering interest, and the actual trailer will look really cool (I hope.)
My prediction has nothing to do with Shamylan's pedigree of films but rather the source material and the breakout potential of the concept given a big budget and lots of marketing, which it will apparently get.

TS3 will open over 125M and will finish higher than Shrek 2.
The Last Airbender will make under 75m.
Shrek 4 will make less than 275m.
DHI will be the highest grossing Potter film yet, domestically.
Inception will do Star Trek numbers at best.

Hmmm....thats all I can think of for now...

I think the show is really great, but I don't know how much faith I have in Shyamalan to do right by it, to be honest.

I could see it going either way.

Dragon is released by Dreamworks. No way it doesn't top 100m.

If he didn't write it... it should be great.

He's still an AWESOME director.

IMDB says Shyamalan is writing it, even though obviously the material/story is not his. So who knows, maybe we'll get classic lines like "you eyein' my lemur?"

Plus, there's the whole gross white-washing aspect of it with the casting. I mean?

Does not compute. For shame.

Quality shouldn't factor into the opening weekend at least, though. And as I mentioned in the Avatar thread, every time I try mentioning THAT film, people think I'm talking about Airbender, and start talking about how excited they are for it. But then, almost all of my friends are really into anime, so it's not too scientific.

The show probably does have the biggest fanbase for an action/adventure animated series since Batman: TAS, at least. If I remember right, the two hour finale on Nick last year got 6m viewers? Which is pretty great for a non-comedy cartoon.

I just have no idea if any of that will translate into legitimate success for the film. I liked the teaser well enough, but it'll probably depend in large part on the marketing (I can see it looking completely ridiculous in live action).

you're supposed to give an example of something that doesn't apply to Inception.

Leo is my favorite actor and Nolan's a terrific director, but was anyone's mind seriously blown by the Inception teaser? A few seconds of Matrix-y goodness is enough to -blow your mind-?

Yeah I think there is no logical reason why IM2 will not break 400 million if TF2 did..

IM2 faces less competition then the first and the first one was way more liked then TF.

That means a big opening weekend over 140 million and easily 400 million.

I don't see much over 420 million.

Post Re: 2010 Guarantees
Kay, I want to make something very clear to you guys. Eclipse is going to be twice as big as New Moon AND it is going to get a lot of new people interested in the Twilight series. New Moon is by the far the best in the series and it’s just so emotional….like seriously I cried so much when I read it the first time and I think this movie could be Titanic 2 or something really big. So I have New Moon at 300M and that would put Eclipse at 600M. Now I know that sounds crazy, but you have to remember that this is a teen movie and so was titanic….plus like I said New Moon is going to get so many new fans the fan base is going to expand into older generations like my grandma or whatevs. So 300M for New Moon and 600M for Eclipse. I think DH Part I could top 400M if it’s good but there isn’t a chance of it topping Eclipse.

And you guys, Toy Story is just a simple little story about a talking toys…why would IT top Titanic??? I mean there’s been about 4 animated movies in movie history that have even been remotely successful and you guys think this is going to make more than ECLIPSE???? THE FANBASE FOR TWILIGHT IS HYOOOGE GUYZ!!! IT’S TWICE AS BIG AS IT WAS LAST YEAR. And isn’t one of the characters named WOODY?? UMMHUM…that’s pretty inappropriate for little children and parents are not going to fall for it guys. The last one may have made lkke 400M or something but these days kids are looking for something more modern and humorous like shrek and Toy Story just doesn’t make the cut. The only way I could see it doing well is if they incorporated someone famous into the plot line like britney spears. Like they could have the toys try and get her out of rehab or something whacky. I know she’s already out but they could make it takek place 2 years ago. I dunno these are just ideas of what Toy Story would NEED to beat Twilight…becuz face it Britney is a huge draw in. I went to see her in March and she blew the roof off the place…I had a dream last night where me and some of my friends were having a screaming contest IN FRONT OF BRITNEY SPEARS and she said she was so impressed with our voices she’s going to get us to sing along with her on her next tour. When I woke up I thought it was real but I realized that couldn’t be true…anways that’s where britney came from, sorry to get so off topic. It’s what I do best. See this could be embarrassing for some people but I don’t worry about that kind of stuff…my motto is “go out there and embarasse yourself” because it is the only way you are going to learn about life and it’s not going to be a very fun life if you never embarrass yourself. Evntually embarrassment will be something your not even familiar with anymore and you’ll be living in the moment…like britney I guess. Anyways New Moon is coming on this November guys!! MARK IT ON YOUR CALENDERS AND GET READY TO BE BLOWN AWAY…..I watch the trailer about 5x a day…I can’t get enough of it….taylor lautner just looks so cute. It’s going to be Leo madness multiplied by 2 and than multiplied by the sine of a triagle with a 90 degree angle then the other angle being 32 making the missing angle 58...sine is the trig metric ratio where you take opposite over hypotneus right guys?? So ok wait your going to need to know one of the sides…let’s say the hypotenus is 45 and were trying to find the side adjacent to the 90 degree. Hmm…we would have have to use cos of 32 x ova 45 folks….which is 38.16...so leo madness multiplied by 38.16. Geeze I hope you guys understood my ramblings…I’m a tad bit of math nerd.

Oh and i forgot to mention Iron Man. Well i dunno what that's going to do but it's not going to beat Eclipse. Wouldn't that funny if Eclipse was released when there was an eclipse??? Ummm...anyone know when the next eclipse is taking place?? I shall google it for all of us....
