 Elizabethtown
I really enjoyed this one. Not Crowe's best, but a sweet, charming little film with some very real emotions and a number of memorable scenes (I loved Susan Sarandon's speech and the road trip). Very underrated!

Loved it. The mother's speech at the end was too drawn-out, and there are some editing decisions that are questionable. However, everything else I thought was great. The whole relationship between Bloom and Dunst was very much alive and real for me; even Bloom did well in his role.

While it was a bit of a letdown, it wasn't a complete disappointment. There are a few brief moments of Crowe brilliance, but they area few and far between. The rest is just an average film.

Overall a solid, if not slightly mediocre movie. Bloom being in this gets an extra grade boost though.

Orlando Bloom will be in a great movie someday that he will carry. This wasn't it. Susan Sarandon will be in a good movie again someday. This wasn't it.

I highly doubt that...

This is the only time, I think, where I actually closed my eyes and actively tried to fall asleep in the theater.

Lol....yeah I knew that remark would stir people up. I seriously believe in a few years he'll be a much better actor.

 Re: Elizabethtown
The entire funeral scene was cringe-worthy, and the rest of the movie from then sunk so low into the depths of blandness, repetition, and schmaltz that I did contemplate turning the movie off several times. Only I figured I'd already come that far, maybe the movie would redeem itself.
Elizabeth town started off ok, actually. I wish the contemplative suicide hadn't been so silly with that stationary bike, but besides that, the difference between success and greatness was not a bad idea for entering into Drew's story and feelings o failure. The problem is that this movie was long and no secondary characters (including Drew's mother and sister) were really fleshed out. So its really just two hours of these two mediocre actors kinda already knowing they like eachother. And the Drew's emotional catharsis really never occurs, and certainly isn't drawn out over the length of the movie in order to make it interesting. Its more just him and Clare hanging out and on occassion he says "Oh, by the way I'm a failure and am going to kill myself" as an afterthought.
Dunst/Clare was ok, but I liked her better when she was the stewardess and before she just becomes the emotionally supportive girlfriend. Her quirkiness becomes sappiness too quickly because the relationship shifts into a higher gear too early in the movie.
Major dissappointment, even for a movie I'd had pretty low expectations of going in: D
