 Best Actress 2009
One nominee for sure.
Meryl Streep. So that'll make 16 Oscar nominations.

 Re: Best Actress
Yeah. Just saw it, and I absolutely fell in love with her ALL OVER AGAIN!! She was just hilarious. But I haven't really heard alot of buzz over this performance... or maybe I've missed something while away. Wonder if voters will remember it come end of the year.
I do totally thinks she deserves one for this after seeing the film. She was the life of the movie.
And the movie wasn't bad, kinda fun... if a tad longer than it felt it should be.

Will she be pushed for lead or supporting?

 Re: Best Actress 2009
here's my current five
someone from Nine Carey Mulligan, An Education Saoirse Ronan, The Lovely Bones Meryl Streep, Julie & Julia Hillary Swank, Amelia
Michelle Pfeiffer's work for Cheri could be resurrected come award season but I'm kinda doubting it.

What about Abbie Cornish for Bright Star? I think she's definitely in the mix. As I mentioned to Moviedude, I think narratives are forming this year more than ever before. And having Carey and Saoirse and Abbie would be an amazing youthful lineup.

 Re: Best Actress 2009
Thing i...unless one of them is a huge huge critical knockout, I doubt we'll see either of them win.
Which brings me to the thought of Swank walking up the podium again...

 Re: Best Actress 2009
But Julie & Julia does not look like a Best Actress-winning film at all. If anything, maybe for It's Complicated.

 Re: Best Actress 2009
Though the film isnt great, Meryl's work in J&J is. She'll probably win the Globe (unless one of the Nine ladies take it) and having a hit movie come out around the same time certainly wont hurt.
She could have 2 $100m films in 2009.

 Re: Best Actress 2009
I think it's between Carey Mulligan, who already got huge buzz, and Abbie Cornish.
Could Helen Mirren be a contender? She has bunch of films later this year.

The prostitution film that her hubby directed. I like it! She's a GILF.

I appreciate the rabid enthusiasm but there's a certain decorum for this forum.

 Re: Best Actress 2009
Halle Berry could get nominated if Frankie & Alice is any good.
It certainly sounds like an oscar type performance going on the synopsis.
Havent seen anything from the movie though.
What about someone from Precious, or Nine?
And of course all of the girls will have to compete with Ashley Tisdale, Aliens in the Attic

I bet we have yet to guess the eventual winner, or even most of the nominees.

Hilary Swank- Amelia 4. Carey Mulligan-An Aducation In Contention: 5. Saiorse Ronan- The Lovely Bones (I will be angry if it's lead but pushed for supporting) 6. Penelope Cruz- Broken Embraces 7. Abbie Cornish- Bright Star 8. Patricia Clarkson- Cairo Time 9. Charlotte Gainsbourg- Antichrist
