I hope Constantine can be fresh when all reviews come in at RT its curently at 47% so its going to need a lot of good reviews over the next two days but BJ has hope
and its curently got a B+ at BOM
does anyone other than myself think this could be the next matrix? larger opening with outstanding legs, but not nearly as good as the matrix's legs finishing in the 140m-200m range :?:

Well, the big day is upon us. One of my three most anticipated of the year is coming out, and I hope it's huge. The reviews have been fairly positive (for it's genre), and the WOM isn't that bad. It's actually decent. My gut instinct tells me this could do atleast an End of Days PTA of $9,900 (basically, $10,000). However, I have a feeling that will kill me in the end. Here are my final predictions.
Opening: $27.1 million ($29.8 million 4-Day)
Total: $75.9 million
Here's hoping it makes $100 million. [-o<

Citing the R-rating, Warners distrib prexy Dan Fellman said "Daredevil" isn't setting "Constantine's" pace. "'Constantine' is reaching a much different audience. That kind of a number would way exceed our expectations," he said. "You might look at the original 'Matrix,' " which opened to $27.8 million in late March 1999. "Our sights are somewhere in there. If we get a 3 in front of that, we'll be very happy."

Well going into the weekend, I'd guess it does just under 30 million for the three day, just over it for the four, (call it 29/32) and finished with about 75-80 million

~25m 3 day
~29m 4 day
61m total
I believe it should be quite frontloaded with the audience it will attract as a dark, R rated, special effects filled, action film.

Currently...
48% Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes (33 Fresh, 36 Rotten) Average: 5.8/10
50 on Metacritic (8.0 from User Reviews)
B+ on Yahoo Movie Reviews (based on 279 ratings thus far)
WOM seems to be good so far among the audience, and mixed in the critics.

Seems everyond expects at least $30 million for the 4-day. That is good to see and hopefully it can achieve that.

I think there is enough hype behind it. So I won't take that bet.

It better make all it can during it's first weekend, because when WOM gets out on this, it's going to disappear fast. This was a boring and poorly made movie.

I liked this movie. Nothing special but engrossing because of the concept. It should do really well today.

My Mini-Review of Constantine:
There was never any doubt to whether I would like Constantine or not. Infact, it was almost certain I would like Constantine. They main question was, "how much would I like Constantine?". After one year of massive anticipation, I can happily say that I absolutely loved Constantine. Where to begin. The movie has some kick-ass special effects. Their interpretation of Hell is great and fitting. Keanu Reeves was perfect for the role of Constantine. He may not be the world's best actor, but this was his role. Rachel Weisz also did great in her role of Angela. The other actors in Constantine are worth mentioning, such as Constantine's right hand boy, Shia LaBeouf. Constantine is one hell of a ride. It's by far the most entertaining movie I've seen in a while. Despite a few plot holes, this movie had everything I wanted, and more. It's definently more of a "horror" (if I even want to call it that) than an action movie, unlike Blade. I had a blast watching this movie, and it's sure to be one of my favorites of 2005. A
Oh, and Maverikk, that won't happen. The WOM is fairly strong thus far. And if it's not, it's far from bad.

So far, the crowd reports and Yahoo Reviews are leaning towards a $10+ million opening day for Constantine. Scott V's report says that it's the best Friday matinee so far this year, and he's looking for $12 million for today. My show was completely sold out, and they needed to open another screen as well during our show. Even Libs' show (at around 5:00pm) was 95% full.
All signs are leading towards atleast $10+ million.

If it does get $12 million opening day, we can expect something like this...
Friday: $12,000,000
Saturday: $12,600,000 (+5%)
Sunday: $9,450,000 (-25%)
Monday: $5,197,000 (-45%)
4-Day Total: $39,247,000
Of course, that 5% increase on Saturday might be too low, but it won't have trouble cracking $40 million if it does get $12 million.

I'm glad I underpredicted it.
But, I expect a decrease on Saturday. Nearly all R rated movies aimed at this audience drop. Underworld, Dawn of the Dead, TCM, Kill Bill 1 & 2, The Punisher, Saw, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Resident Evil 2, 8 Mile, etc. Even Hellboy and Van Helsing basically stayed even, while The Grudge, Boogeyman, Scary Movie 3, and X2 hardly increased and they were all PG-13. Plus, Team America was an R rated film aimed at young males, however, it was also a comedy which tend to get nice increases. Yet, it stayed even.
The only R rated action/horror film you can point to is Troy. However, that had a much wider audience and it increased only 1%.
I think a drop is certain. The only question is: how much? I'd guess something around 5%, although 10% might be possible.
BTW, I'm not comparing Constantine to the summer, when even more films drop.
So, something like this seems likely.
Friday - 12.5m
Sat - 12m
Sun - 8m
Mon - 4.5m
3-day - 32.5m
4-day - 37m
