shawman wrote: IA2 made 26M in italy. One dollar was worth 0.81 euro during IA2's OW. Now it is 0.70 Euro. So IA2's gross in italy without 3D boost or inflation is 30M . IA3 made over 72M in holdovers last 7 dats without ever having 40% drop, do you still think 600M is just possible.
I think IA3 is beating potter for sure.
Potter stopping at 620-640M while IA3 makes 650M. I don't think that will happen, but if it does it's going to be one of the biggest shocks of the year for international BO.

Based on HR/SD, IA3 is at 505M. So it made 75M last week It however bombed in japan(making < 500K).

Re: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (INTL.) - $458 million
Ice Age 3 set to break international record for animation
Finding Nemo held the current record of $525m with its 2003 release for Buena Vista, and it was the first animated title to cross $500m internationally. Ice Age : Dawn Of The Dinosaurs crossed $500m easily — it now stands at $514.7m as of July 28 — and should easily pass Nemo’s record this weekend. In its fifth week, the film is still on more than 9,500 screens internationally; the only new expansion this week is into Vietnam.
The other top international animated titles historically have been Shrek 2 at $479m, Shrek The Third at $476m, and Ice Age 2 at $457m. Ice Age 3 already had the largest-ever international opening for an animated film.
20th Century Fox International is currently leading the studios international box office tally for the year, at an estimated $1.4bn and counting (as reported, Paramount Pictures International and Warner Bros Pictures International have also crossed $1bn.)
========================
Well we saw it coming for the past three weeks now, it's going to do it this weekend for sure.
IA3 added another $9m or so from Mon-Tue....slowing a bit but should have enough left in the tank for a gross north of $575m. The question now is whether it can break $600m....its more likely than unlikely if you ask me.
Two $600m grossers, 2nd time ever, similar to 2007 when Pirates 3 $651.6m defeated Harry Potter 5 $646.2m y just $5m.
We may not see this again until 2011 when Deathly Hallows II and Hobbit aims high.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/con ... 8af6dbd170No. 3 was 20th Century Fox's "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs," which elicited $22.3 million from 9,244 screens in 68 markets. After five rounds overseas, the Ice Age threequel has drawn a total of $549.7 million, making it the foreign circuit's highest-grossing animation title of all time. The previous record-holder was Disney's "Finding Nemo," which generated $525 million in 2003. 549,7 mln.

Even though the gap between IA3 and HP6 is shrinking, I believe that IA3 will stay ahead of HP6 until the end of their respective releases...

This is really really insane and one of the biggest shocks, at least to me, ever.

549,7 mln. Huge, if it does well in Italy...then $650m might be possible as well, really challenging potter. I have this at around $630-650m at the momment.

Imagine what it would have done with like $80m in Japan, could have challenged ROTK.

Dear Arch, of course i know that, but as we don't have inflation & exchange rate adjusted international charts we'll have to make do with what we have, won't we?

Then it's just like saying, what if FOTR-TTT-ROTK grossed $150m in Japan like Harry Potter, it would've had no problems beating Potter overseas in each respective year if it did that. FOTR-TTT where more consistent than HP1-HP2 in all regions.

The chances are increasing week by week that IA3 could become the first movie since 2004 to cross the magic 9m admissions mark here in Germany!

Pretty amazing... and sad at the same time. It's like all those germans watch these days are cartoons and those stupid comedies from the likes of Michael Hörbiger...
