RT wrote: Archangel wrote: It's official. TTT's 7-year opening weekend record has been defeated....I'm sad, though it wasn't by much. Of course, Adjusted for inflation TTT would've blown HP6 out of the water. One other thing, I don't really consider TTT's or Hp6's opening to be the strongest start....that title belongs to ROTK which had a 3-Day opening but managed to gross in excess of AUD$12m. so with an extra day, it will surely get around the AUD$14.5-15m mark.
Still HP6's opening is superb. The franchise has been growing in openings each time. Expect Deathly Hallows to become the first movie to clear AUD$15m when it opens next year. HP6 sent Transformers crashing 55%...not bad really, that movie is on the verge of $40m but is slowing fast now that the school holidays has finished, needs a good week next weekend. Ice Age 3 held quite well and is itself on the verge of surpassing Ice Age 2's total gross of $24.5m. Bruno as expected was crushed badly.

Re: HARRY POTTER 6: Half-Blood Prince (INTL.) - $394m RECORD
AUSTRALIA (US$) - Opening Weekend
You can see just how much the Aussie dollar has improved since back in the early 2000. While Potter is on par with LOTR2 in AUD$, it almost doubles TTT in US$. Unfortunately, it fell just short of the $15m mark.
1) Harry Potter 6: HBP - $14,999,929 (5-Day or $11,492,142 4-Day - 510 SC) 2) Harry Potter 5: OOTP - $14,779,243 (5-Day or $11,207,384 4-Day - 500 SC) 3) The Dark Knight - $13,722,599 (4-Day or $11,499,137 4-Day - 472 SC) 4) Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen - $13,147,155 (5-Day or $11,011,087 4-Day - 242 SC) 5) The Simpsons Movie - $11,262,494 (442 SC) 6) Star Wars 3: ROTS - $10,446,272 (535 SC) 7) Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - $9,869,415 (650) or $10.5m by Mon 8) Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - $9,444,884 (453 SC) or $9,464,748 Actuals 9) Shrek 2 - $9,409,368 (or $9,073,520 without p/v - 437 SC) 10) Indiana Jones: The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull - $9,331,156 (535 SC)
Harry Potter 4: GOF - $9,217,025 (553 SC) Happy Feet - $8,737,302 (6-Day or $5,199,027 4-Day - 404 SC)*Boxing Harry Potter 3: POA - $8.6m (452 SC) Shrek 3 - $8,542,601 (277 SC) I Am Legend - $8,499,825 (or $8,334,916 without p/v - 338 SC) Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest - $8,333,283 (489 SC) Lord Of The Rings: TTT - $7,918,875 (424 SC)
Harry Potter 2: COS - $5.9m (488 SC) Harry Potter 1: PS - $4.8m (476 SC)
FINLAND - Opening Weekend
Not the largest opening of all-time, but is on par with HP4 as the largest opening for Potter.

NETHERLANDS - Opening Weekend
New all-time champion, raising both the 5-Day and 4-Day records by more than $1m. Huge.

HP6 enters at #2 on the All-time charts, below HP5. This is only the 2nd time we've seen a movie gross more than $2m on opening.
One thing though, although it defeated Revenge of the Fallen over 5-Days, it's 4-Day gross was slightly less.

TURKEY - Opening Weekend
Nowhere the record pace here, but is still amongst the top foreign launches of all-time. Worrying thing is that it's only the 3rd best Potter opening.

85m yuan ($12.4m) for the first 5 days in China. $30m total should be no problem.

"Pic lost none of its magic on Monday and Tuesday, grossing a boffo $27.6 million and $23.8 million, respectively." That's massive, in 1 week it's already 1/2 way to $600m. By the end of this weekend, it's total should be around $420-440m with some new countries opening. Enough to surpass T2 to become the 2nd largest of the year behind ICE3

Re: HARRY POTTER 6: Half-Blood Prince (INTL.) - $404m
Potter opens in Poland on Friday and I'm not sure how it will do to be honest. Right now I have 2 options: a) huge midnights + big weekend= 450-500k adm. or b) huge midnights + average weekend= 320-350k adm.
Usually I would go with option b) but I'm seeing and hearing from friends that work at cinemas that it's absolutely massive for whole weekend so I will have to go with option a) ( plus the weather should help since it will be cloudy and rainy )

It may pull a Ice Age 3 and go even higher overseas than expected....at the momment i'm thinking around $700-730m...but a good hold here or there and it'll be above $750m easy.

Re: HARRY POTTER 6: Half-Blood Prince (INTL.) - $504.2m
It's still early, but right now I really can't see HP6 topping IA3 in Germany.
The second weekend looks to end up below 1 million admissions, which is less than IA3's third weekend, not to mention the first Harry Potter movie to drop below seven figures on that weekend.
Seeing how HP6 is seemingly dropping behind HP5, whose 2nd and 3rd weekend numbers are about on one level with IA3's third and fourth respectively, I don't see a turnaround coming anytime soon.
One has to wonder if the difference could end up as high as two million admissions. Talk about an amazing performance by IA3.

It's drop then was more than 55%, huge but not unexpected. Ice Age 3 was looking good for around 7-8m admissions...Potter looks to do around 6-7m then.

Looks like HP6's 2nd weekend is around 875,000 admissions while IA3's 4th weekend is around 600,000 admissions (IA3's 2nd weekend was 1,581,037)...
HP6 might struggle to the 6m mark, IA3 will very likely conquer the 8m mark...
