I have no idea where I got that idea from...

Hay Nazgul, Ive been working in graphic/ concept production designs for over 10 years and that logo looks perfect for Kong. Its got an art deco style font which gets across the 1930's era of the film and it has a sepiatone contrast on black which evokes a sense of the films of old and its very "new york". Whether the design is fan made or official it hit the target for the type of film that this is.
In regards to the fan poster made last year, while the color palette did lend itself to a early period , the font however looked too much like something you'de see painted on the side of a gypsy carbival caravan traveling through the hills of Carpathia...Not the right look.

BTW...Nazgul, if you want to know if the story of King Kong is good, and I guess I would be the one to ask concerning LOTR too, I'll let you know. If anybody wants to show me that they can write better than I can, they are more than willing, but until then, I guess I'll just be the authority on what good writing is and what's not.

King Kong diary
By Steve Meacham
http://www.smh.com.au/news/Film/King-Ko ... click=true
Although Peter Jackson is keeping the world's press largely at arm's length for the filming of his latest epic, he is communicating with fans in the most direct way possible, via the internet.
Since King Kong began shooting, Jackson has kept a regular web diary (see http://www.kongisking.com).
It provides an unprecedented glimpse of a director at work. Check out Day 4 of the web diary, when Naomi Watts and Jack Black are introduced on camera. "I can't believe they get to see me in costume and make-up," says a surprised Black. "Isn't it verboten?"
Yes, explains Jackson, but we want people to know about how movies are made.
Even more revealing is Day 27, when Jackson explains to Watts and Adrien Brody how he wants them to appear in a storm scene aboard the Venture. They watch what he has prepared for them on a computer, using a new program called Previs (for previsualisation). "Just copy what these little guys do," the director explains. "It's like having an acting teacher here on screen."
Watts and Brody protest, saying it feels "a bit stiff".
"Get used to it, Naomi," Jackson says firmly. "This is the future of filmmaking."

"in all its glory" as "in its full size" or something
Would you mind reading what i had to say about it? To make it easier for you i'll restate it right here:
"I find it ok, the simplicity works IMHO. Like the font and colors..."
Do you happen to find any trace of the word "great" there? Well, i don't. How goes the saying in english...? I believe: You're grasping at straws.

How could a bunch of letters possibly evoke emotions? Now if this would turn out to be an early teaser poster i would of maybe agree, but since it seems to be only a logo i'm fine with it.
As for the missing "King", it's a bit odd, yeah, one would thing they want to, you know, "get across" the whole title...

Nice to hear from an expert (real expert, not some wannabes ) that he likes it and finds it fitting.

I'll say it slow for you...
When you need to know what is a good movie and what's not a good movie, you can take my expert opinion on it, and not listen to the opinion of any wannabes who couldn't write their way out of a paperbag. Since I see that's how you like to think, you shouldn't have any problems taking my word for law when it comes to validating your opinion for you. After all, who would know better than I do? Got it? Good.

Is everything allright with you, Mav? I think not.

Well, since you look to others to validate you opinion, I figured you could look to my expert opinion on creative writing, as I would obviously have a better idea than you do about what good writing is. Unless, of course, you only adapt that philosophy when the opinion agrees with you, which doesn't make you a very credible person.

Well, apparently you're not allright...
I would suggest a thorough medical inspection, starting with the head.

Yeah, I was meaning to start taking advice from delusional people on the internet who have no credibility, so thanks for reminding me. \:D/

Once again Maverikk cracks me up.
Just a couple of posts ago he was offering his art critique from his vast knowledge of design (a couple of CD covers he probably printed out of his house for his little garage band), but NOW when someone else offers a critic he decides to change his tune and claim Nazgul can't think for himself.
So let me get this straight, if YOU'RE offering advice then the recipiant is wise for coming to you, but if someone else is offering advice then it means the recipiant can't think for himself???
Sorry man, that shit just doesn't fly. Sounds like you just can't stand being made to look like an idiot in a topic that you have no clue about. (Here's a tip for next time, don't get into discussions about crap you know nothing about  )
Why dont you go print out a couple more CD covers Mr. "Proffessional writer".

I have plenty a clue about art, dickhead. I also know writing and music . Sorry if that makes you insecure about you own lack of talent.

Recording engineer/studio musician. I was one of the guys who got real lucky, as my garage band skills have been fooling the best musicians in town for a long time now. My luck's probably running out , but don't give me away. :-$

1. I like it, quite a bit actually, given the style in paticular the N it inevokes images of 1930's, tall skyscrapers...and I can easily picture Kong climbing one.
2. Reading this thread reminds why I rarely end up discussing movies at this or any movie forum.

Production Diary: Day 95!
How do you take the massive New York set and turn it into another massive New York set without completely messing things up? Planning! PJ and his crew recently turned the Times Square set into the Heralds Square set in a matter of days, changing storefronts, stairways, marquee signs and more. Chris and Dan Hennah, Grant Major and others show us how this happened with a look back at the detailed plans that were involved. Adrien Brody gives us his point of view as to the authenticity of set, and a rain delay causes the crew to seek shelter and cut a car in half! Take a look!
