I consider Nispel's TCM pretty great as slashers go, too. It's one of the reasons I was disappointed by this being so phoned in.

I've read two Elm Street script drafts. Unless the director really swings things one way or the other, it'll be a middle-of-the-road Nightmare. It plays by all of the same rules as the others.

Yeah, but the villain here is more important than in TCM or in F13 because you actually see the face (kinda). The way Freddy is portrayed will matter a lot.

And as for Nispel - have you seen Pathfinder? Considering how mediocre that was despite a really simple set-up I was not that shocked anymore than F13 didn't full deliver.

Freddy's awesome. The kids are not, though they're nowhere near as bland as Friday 09's group.

I haven't seen Pathfinder, though I can't recall hearing good things. Ever.

Outlander is somewhat similar. And way better.

Who'd have thought that a vikings vs. Indians flm can be that boring...

Alright.. I've officially decided to stay away from Blockbuster due to the fact that every time I rent a DVD, I always forget to return it at some point, thus causing me to own the DVD based on Blockbuster Videos new late fee rules.. The last time this occurred was when I rented CLOVERFIELD cause you all raved how awesome it was and it was complete 100% utter ASS and I feel like an ASS for not returning it on time causing me to now own this piece of shit..

With that having been said, I'll now rent movies on Pay Per View and 2 movies on right now are: The FRIDAY THE 13TH Remake vs MY BLODDY VALENTINE.. Which 1 is better???
:-k

The My Bloody Valentine remake. However I saw it in 3D which contributed to the enjoyment. Without 3D, it is probably still better, but not by much.

Post Re: Friday the 13th (2009)
The other day on my birthday, I squared away my late fees wit5h Blockbuster and as a result, I decided to rent this movie along with My Bloody Valentine 3D.. I haven't watched Valentine yet, but I watched Friday the 13th this morning and my 1st thought after seeing this was what a waste of time this remake was considering the kills were few and far between and not very imaginative, the movie took place in the dark 95% of the time except for the first 10 minutes of the movie and you could barely make out anything.. Jason's also a sprint runner to...

The killings: The worst kill Jason did was
Spoiler: show
Apparently, Jason is quite the super marksman that he can take an arrow and shoot it like 300 yards away at a moving speedboat and put an arrow through the teens head causing the speed boat to go out of control, hit this chick in the head while running over her(which she should've been dead instantly)...

The ending was a letdown and clearly predictable.. Reamkes are supposed to improve upon the original movies they came from and this was no better than the older movies from the 80's, no shit.. As a result, I've gotta give this movie a flat out "F".. Next up is My Bloody Valentine 3D which all of you said was really good, so I'll bite and watch it today and review it tonight..

He ran in Part 2, Part 3, The Final Chapter, and Freddy vs. Jason, too.

Not like in this movie he didn't.. He more or less walked with a steadier pace than in this lame ass remake that did absolutely nothing..

Huh? He ran all the time in Part 2 and TFC. Any time he was out in the open.

And frankly, a runningkiller is more realistic than a walking one.

silly video, the thing about old Jason was he was actually able to sneak up on a lot of his films. The silly sequels made it into they spot him then they would try and run from him. Suspense to farce basically.

Post Re: Friday the 13th (2009)
Nah i loved it. It was better than most other films in the franchise...not that it's hard.

about the prologue, i thought it was really long too. But i liked the idea of having 2 groups of teens, killing 5 of them within 15 minutes and moving on to another group, i don't think thats ever been done before.

And as lecter said, when Danielle Panabaker's character was killed, i was shocked.

At the platinum dunes blog, the producer said the one thing they learnt was that they have to make the kills more inventive in the sequel, which i agree with!

I'd rather they learned that the script was awful and the pacing boring to the extreme.

Nah. Since when has the Friday the 13th series been known for it's scripts?

More kills and yeah a different pace.

Jason Lives' script was quite good. Regardless, F13 09's script was terrible - it was a detriment to the movie. Yeah, the script doesn't need to be great, but it still needs to have a solid structure and decent characters. This film, well, didn't.

F13 films never need anything more than at least a good plotline, for a remake it has enough fumes, the sequel needs something a little catchier though, at least they didn't cut off his arm like they stupidly did in TCM so they had to do a prequel.

Its a pretty solid if by the numbers remake. The best part is the first group of people getting offed so quickly. I thought they were the main players and the double take it caused when Jason had them sliced and diced before even the 25 minute mark was quite a shock.

God was this one boring. As predictable as it can get with lame kills and worse actors. Despite being only 90 minutes long it felt like an eternity. Beside some nice boobs the movie has nothing good to offer and I really don't think they tried very hard to make anything but a 08/15 slasher. And why someone would be shocked at Panabakers death is beyond me. Maybe if you've never seen a horror movie before. F

Bought the dvd and rewatched.

Still love this. Slasher fun. It's not as good as TCM03 or TCM:TB but it's good.

The deaths were better than i remembered....

Spoiler: show
The sleeping bag over the fire.
The bear trap in the leg, then machete in the forehead.
When the guy is stabbed through the hand, foot and then dragged into the ground.
The arrow through the eye.
The machete into the top of the head.
A slit throad
Axe in the back, then brought through to the front.
The poor girl that got stuck on the towel rack, shot twice, then dropped onto a car window.
The asshole that had the machete sawn up his body, then impaled on the car.
Then a big machete through the chest

I liked!!

Roll on Part II :)
