Jeff, how dare you imply that the movie with the little cancer girl might end, you know, that way...
Hollywood can be so crass sometimes.

 Re: The Notebook
The My Sister's Keeper spoiler isn't really a spoiler because it doesn't reveal who dies (it's different from the book)...

Still obsessed nine years later. Gosling and McAdams have such unreal chemistry in this.

The Notebook
Classic romance, modernly told. It really is sensational. Ryan Gosling and Rachael McAdams are just so perfect together, and their chemistry is wholly believable. Garner is outstanding. I was near tears half-a-dozen times. Such a great film. Yet again, when a film can relate to a part in your life, it touches you more, and this is what happened with The Notebook and me.
It was obvious that Garner and the old bird were in fact Noah and Allie, but it didn't matter. The slow reveal was appreciated all the same. One thing I'd like clearing up was whether Garner was called Noah when he was younger, or if the old bird just called him Noah because she had some feeling with the story. Not that it matters to my overall grade, but was Garner actually Duke and changed the names of the lead characters in the story to Noah and Allie? Or was he always called Noah? But then where does the Duke name come from?
I am going to watch another Cassavettes film and see if I like it. I'll watch them until I find a bad one. The Notebook is probably my favourite straight-up romance film ever.

Well, Algren, you have seen the peak of Sparks adaptations now. It'll only be downhill from now on.

 Re: The Notebook
The Notebook is by far the best of the Sparks adaptations (like, not even close). A Walk to Remember is solid too and Dear John is OK. The rest (Message in a Bottle, Nights in Rodanthe, The Last Song, The Lucky One, Safe Haven) are all pretty mediocre/lame.
