Re: Yahoo Review Thread - 10/24/08
Looking good for HSM3. The ratio will be high, but we've seen the upper limit for the current Yahoo is around 150. The written percentage is perfectly fine too; same for the grade. $20m is realistic.
Saw V isn't doing all that hot. It will need a Friday night surge to hit $10m.
P&G is on pace for $2m+.

It's been so long hasn't it? haha.
I think they release them around 2AM ET don't they? So just an hour maybe.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - 10/24/08
Without notfabio, the Yahoo thread is the only way we can really tell how movies are doing and even that isn't as accurate as it used to be. The FM estimates are the first real numbers we get now.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - 10/24/08
Massive for High School Musical and Saw if those hold up. HSM wouldn't reach my lofty prediction of over 60 with that, but a $16M Friday could be good for a $50M weekend (and the October record).
And Saw never fails to draw people in, this will open over $30M yet again.

Wow, that's kind of low for HSM 3. I expected much more (20-25M) actually. Good for Saw although that is 2M lower than part 4. It's on par with part 2.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - 10/24/08
"Kind of low"? I mean, maybe it didn't reach the predictions of over $60M probably, but it will probably become the biggest October opener ever. And the movie has a shoestring budget.

Not as shoestring as Saw I'll bet. I expected HSM 3 to make 65-70M and 25M opening day like some were predicting.

I can't believe Saw is still drawing so many people. Glad that HSM won't make those crazy numbers as many were predicting. And P&G (wow, almost like Procter&Gamble) didn't bomb.

I expected at least 20 for HSM but I guess we just got into the hype. We'll see with BOM #'s tomorrow. Still great for it though, just more realistic.

The multiplier is falling with each installment, II had 2.6, III had 2.3 and IV had 2.15. It should increase to the level of 3rd movie to break 30, which is kinda utopic I think. With that downward trend we can easily see 25 m.

HSM3's budget is 13M. I like the number, and even expected a 16/17M OD (predicted 16 for KJ Olympics, hehe) after reading that it was doing really well, but not too many sell-outs in various locations. Hannah Montana increased 60% on Saturday, I doubt HSM3 will do that (if it does, then 60M would be in play), but it should see a very healthy weekend multipler.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - 10/24/08
Saw V's budget is 10M. Pride & Glory cost 35M so it's kind of a flop since it won't approach that in theatres.

Also, this number should pretty much make Saw VI official for next year since they said they were waiting on the opening weekend box office before deciding when to release it since it's the last one.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - 10/24/08
Well, a 20M opening would be double the budget, so I think more sequels are on the way even if it saw a sharp drop, something like 20M, instead of the 25+ it seems headed for. If all these numbers are accurate of course.

Saw VI has been slotted for October 30, 2009 for quite awhile. It was in the original Kevin Greutert announcement.
