 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
The only thing that L&O will do is tie Gunsmoke in number of total seasons if it gets renewed. L&O has aired 428 episodes and Gunsmoke has tallied 635 episodes during its run.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
None of the new NBC shows looks great.
Trauma looks bad. Really bad.
Parenthood looks decent, but the central plot sounds limited a bit.
Mercy looks like Gray's Anatomy mixed with Lipstick Jungle. Which means it might not be bad. The bits & parts I've seen from GA looked good and it seems like a decent show. LJ was actually pretty good at times. So I'm looking forward to Mercy.
100 Questions feels old.
Community looks OKish.
Day One only has behind the scenes video that says nothing as they only show various takes of the same scene in front of the green screen. But I have a feeling the show will suck.
If this is the best NBC could do, I'm afraid they're heading for another big drop. Olympics will soften the blow though.

Ah okay that is where it will beat it. I forget it needed that many episodes. They must have aired like 40 episodes a season back then. I think Law and Order will stay on to pass it seasons after they it will probably gracefully leave.

I dunno why some were doubting its chances but Fringe is renewed: http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/05/fox-rene ... .html#more

I watched the Community preview, and it actually looks pretty funny. Joel McHale is my God, so maybe that has something to do with it.

So happy that "Parenthood" ended up getting picked up I thought it sounded like one of the most promising new pilots. The guy behind "Friday Night Lights" is handling it which means that it should be something special and NBC will probably give it more leeway than most dramas.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
There are a few reports of CW abandoning Sundays. Mediaweek makes an interesting notion that without Sunday CW is in a better position because of how low rated it was and losing it would result in better results for CW. I can already see CW PR engine churning out a report after report how CW is doing better even though it might be flat. Quote: Starting this fall, the CW network will likely be programming only five nights a week.
"These discussions include an evolution of the strategy, which began this season, to focus the CW's resources on Monday through Friday nights. As a result, we are now exploring the transition of Sunday night to our affiliates." http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/con ... 7830a335d7Quote: The CW is in advanced conversations to give back its perennially low-rated block of Sunday programming to the affiliate stations, paring down its schedule from six to five nights.
The absence of minimally seen Sunday will, no doubt, result in overall year-to-year rating gains for the network next season. http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/content_dis ... 7452136369Quote: The CW confirmed Monday night it is in advanced talks with affiliates to no longer program Sunday nights. http://www.broadcastingcable.com/articl ... ssid=20065

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
I think they're ignoring the fact that existing CW shows still could go down in the ratings So yeah, flat would be the best scenario.

The CW is going to abandon Sunday nights? Is this a news report from two years ago?

Monday: "Heroes" and another drama night. Tuesday: "The Biggest Loser" night. Wednesday: "Law & Order" franchise night. Thursday: Four-comedy night. So *apparently* Dollhouse. Better Off Ted. Scrubs. Castle. *maybe* Reaper. *maybe* Chuck.
Just a bizarre year for renewals.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
Lmao why don't they put Dollhouse and Fringe together. Idol comes on in 2010, and it's 13 episodes (WOW) should be done by then, and it'd be a decent lead in (IMO). Ohhh boy.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
I think it's a smart move to keep it, but not smart to keep it on Friday nights. It should do well on DVD and perform better in the ratings during Season 2.

It's interesting that Bones' renewal is still 'pending.' LMAO... once it gets renewed, it'll be threatened to move to Fridays again. Hey! Dollhouse has a new lead-in! And it stars a Whedon show alum!

ABC canceled Samantha Who? Too bad, but I don't get why Ausiello is surprised. It never really found an audience. But if they pushed a 2-hr comedy block, they could've put Samantha, Scrubs, Better Off Ted and a new comedy on the night. But oh well.

I'm not happy Samantha Who? got canceled. It was a funny enough show and Christina Applegate was fabulous in it. Bummer.
