I really loved Ray, and it would be awesome if it did win Best Picture. Sadly, I don' t think that will happen. I think it's between MDB and The Aviator, with Sideways being the underdog.

If you're thinking of a Million Dollar Baby/The Aviator split, the Oscar would most likely go to Sideways.

Ray will not win, and I'm 100% sure of that.

All I have to say is that everyone here is SO certain "Ray" has no snowballs chance in hell of winning, that I would roll in the Aisle if it pulled off a major upset out of nowhere that no one saw coming and won it.. Sure, if it doesn't, then who cares??? I'll admit I was wrong and move on like last year whern "Lost in Translation" should've won for BEST PICTURE over the much overrated ROTK that did NOT deserve to sweep the goddamn Oscars.. No way.. I'm sticking with "Ray" for the stunning upset... The Academy loves these sort of movies and "Ray" was Exceptional.. =D>

It's not a "rash" prediction, just a Gut feeling that the Academy will better appreciate a Biopic like this and by winning BEST PICTURE, It would be a heartfelt tribute to a Man who gave us great music and very fitting... Eastwood has already won an Oscar before, give it to the film that made the super haul on DVD sales and Oscar Nominations like "RAY" has and cancel out MDB and the AVIATOR and blow everyone away with that decision as though it was out of nowhere.. Otherwise, this Years Oscar Ceremony is gonna suck big time for a series of films that aren't really stand out films compared to the past..

Because I'm Quoting what I read from USATODAY and that it's odd for an Oscar Nominated movie not to of crossed 100 Million yet and that they said none of the films nominated are REALLY that overly in demand based on the lukewarm box office.. And for the most part, there not standout films when compared to the Past Oscars and the excitement level for this years Oscars is about the Equivalent of Crickets chirping in the background with Chris Rock being brought in to bring in the younger age demographic and Liven it up...

I just think "RAY" Winning BEST PICTURE would have a more sentimental touch and quality to it and be quite a Tribute to Ray Charles in doing so.. Aviator is at 77mil ( it'll for sure get to 100mil ) & Million Dollar Baby is at 37mil ( it'll probably end up like Mystic River with around 90mil & if it wins best pic it'll make over 100mil ) Neither film is limping at the BO you gotta stop talking out your ass man, im serious, look into this stuff before saying things that arent true. like I said already in another thread passed Oscar Nominated movies followed the same trend/pattern as Aviator & MDB

Look at Mystic River, Master & Commander, and SeaBiscuit ( all nominated last year ). All those movies made 90mil+ slowly, none of those movies ever hit #1 but still managed to make 90mil - 120mil, so just shutup and wait a while and you'll see Aviator & MDB make as much if not more money then those flicks.

If the Academy wanted to give a rude gesture to the administration, honoring Ray would be a way, since Ray Charle's death was comparatively overlooked in the summer compared with the imperial funeral for Reagan. Just saying it's a possibility in the back of the minds of some academy voters.
