Watts and Norton team up for VIEL
Source: Variety
Edward Norton and Naomi Watts have signed on to co-star in the Warner Independent feature THE PAINTED VEIL. The period drama, based on the novel by W. Somerset Maugham, takes place in 1920s London and follows the beautiful but love-starved Kitty Fane (Watts) who is forced by her bacteriologist husband to accompany him to the heart of a cholera epidemic when he discovers her adulterous affair. Stripped of the British society of her youth she is compelled by her awakening conscience to reassess her life and learn how to love. Sounds like the feel good movie of the year! VEIL was made into a feature once before, in 1934 starring Greta Garbo. John Curran, who directed Watts in WE DON'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE, will step behind the camera. Filming is scheduled to begin this September. Watts can be seen next in THE RING 2 opening March 18th.
Great news! Norton and Watts are two of my favorites, and the movie doesn't sound half bad. I'll definetely try to see it in theaters!
