Quote:
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (French: Les Parapluies de Cherbourg) is a 1964 French musical film directed by Jacques Demy, starring Catherine Deneuve and Nino Castelnuovo. The music was written by Michel Legrand. The film dialogue is all sung as recitative, even the most casual conversation.

Umbrellas is the middle film in an informal "romantic trilogy" of Demy films that share some of the same actors, characters and overall look; it comes after Lola (1961) and before The Young Girls of Rochefort (1967).

once upon a time, yoshue and kypade had a tastebaby, and despite the physical and stylistic impossibility of this, it's pretty damn good.

you're the top, yosh the bottom.

I think you factor in because of the colors (kypade likes colors) and new wave (kypade likes new wave) thing.

err...so I've watched this in bits and pieces maybe 4 times in the last month. It's one of those movies that you can genuinely fall in love with.

Despite its slightly underwhelming ending (I was like, that's it?) the movie is very good. I was loving it so much perhaps I wasn't ready for it to end when it did. It left me wanting more!

I loved it. Loved the colorful sets and the cinematography. Catherine Deneuve was lovely. Such a sad (or rather bittersweet) ending.

8/10 (A-)
