Post RECOMMEND Movies to ALGREN!
Im in the sort of mood that makes me want to rent or buy alot of movies, but im not sure if im missing something or not, and what not a better place to come and get suggestions... So, based on what you know about me and my taste in films, can you recommend any films to me, that i maybe havent seen?

Please no silly suggestions, i really want to see some class entertainment. thankyou

For a REAL romantic movie, see "The Notebook" one of the better films in recent years.

I would call Breaking the Waves and The Celebration many great things...

...however I would never call them "entertaining" :)

Algren, you should start with what you are comfortable with, which seems to be action movies... but swing over and see The Killer (John Woo) or some other great action films then move on from there.

Algren I really think you would find Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy right up your ally ... if you haven't already seen them.

I just watched the remake of The Getaway with Alec Baldwin, Kim Basinger, James Woods, and Michael Madsen. I think you would like it.

If you really want a good day at your home theater, watch Kill Bill VOL1 and 2 as a whole. I mean, they are good seperate, but when watching it together...its like 3+ hours of pure amazement, witty story telling, and some terrific action. But with you being the big movie buff, you probably already did this..but if you didn't..i strongly reccomend it.

If your looking for a good laugh, rent some Johnny Carson, Tonight show DVD's...these are FILLED with laughs. I bought the Johnny Carson Tonight Show set about a month ago, and I still watch it to laugh...

and uhm....Airplane is a great movie. I like that movie...just some silly jokes, that really get you laughing....

Algren, from what l know of you, you are much pickier than me when it comes to what you like. And looking over your top 100 you like much stuff very different than me. Not that either of those are a bad thing. That said...you will not like "Cries and Whispers."

l recommend...hm...l dunno. Maybe try "The Last Wave." Then again, l think everyone should watch that film. Brilliant.
