Rod's Countdown to an Oscar Nomination #2: Hiam Abbass

Forget about year-in-advance predictions, I'm taking Oscar predictions to a whole new level!
After the success of Penelope's thread, which was started a year and half before
Volver was released, I am now turning my attention to another internationally recognized actress.
She has been gaining recognition in the last few years, beginning with 2004's
The Syrian Bride from director Eran Riklis. She gained some attention in North America last year with a wonderful supporting turn as the love interest to Academy Award-nominated Richard Jenkins' character in
The Visitor. She has kept herself quite busy over the last few years and this week sees the release of
Lemon Tree, in which she re-teams with her
Syrian Bride director. The film has received overwhelmingly positive reviews (88% at Rotten Tomatoes) with many critics touting Abbass's performance as the heart and soul of it.
While I by no means expect a nomination for her this year, I predict she will finally be nominated for next year's
Miral, from acclaimed director Julian Schnabel, which chronicles Hind Husseini's (Abbass) effort to establish an orphanage in Jerusalem after the 1948 partition of Palestine and the creation of the state of Israel.
Here is your chance to get partial bragging rights by agreeing right now!
