No, the film's title is actually Dying Clint's Last Big Oscar Shot

I still more-or-less like the guy, he often does good work in bad movies, but his eye for projects has been really weak since Master & Commander. Actually, I take that back; it's always been pretty bad.

Re: Well...the 2009 Contenders Discussion Thread
State of Play has rebounded a bit with 76% on RT but the average is 6.4. It's 59 over at MC. Could end up rotten or barely fresh. Coupled with its release date, I'd say it's dead

Re: Well...the 2009 Contenders Discussion Thread
I think whatever works may have a fair shot, and I'm thinking cheri looks like a good bet. Shutter Island has less of a shot than Avatar IMHO, a horror flick getting BP seems harder than a Sci-Fi flick. Eastwood's flick, Nine, Lovely Bones seem like no brainers right now.

Re: Well...the 2009 Contenders Discussion Thread
Shutter Island barely qualifies as horror, if at all. Plus, a film that barely qualified as horror (Silence Of The Lambs) has actually one. Avatar is HARD sci-fi.

The concept alone is heavy sci-fi. It's not Children Of Men or Clockwork Orange. Aliens and future technology requiring groundbreaking special effects?

A lot of people like to point to TDK as a reason why Avatar won't get in but Avatar has 1 thing TDK did not. A smoking hot release date.

Blame the horror thing on the poster. It's looks like a cheap ass J-horror remake.

Though I've crossed it off the list, Taking Woodstock will be at Cannes. We'll get a definitive thumbs up or down on it.

Re: Well...the 2009 Contenders Discussion Thread
State of Play rebounded quite nicely with 83% Fresh on RT. But the average is still low (6.8) and MC is much weaker with 61.
I've also changed the poll to allow for revoting so you an adjust as more films are screened.
