Who do you think is the best American Idol Winner. My vote goes to Kelly Clarkson.

Kelly Clarkson is the best of three, but that's not saying too much. Look at the other two.

Seriously, I don't know how they pick these people. Kelly actually has talent.

Did I hear she was signing at today's Super Bowl and I have heard a couple of her songs on the radio - which were good.

Also I liked her song in the movie - Love Actually.

Also, I just heard one of the old Spice Girls on Howard Stern - I think Emma / Baby Spice. Very funny interview as he was teasing her.

Anyway, I never listened to them but some of the record sales numbers that they mentioned were incredible.

She is up there, but I think Christina Aguilera is much better when it comes to hitting higher notes, and her voice is phenomenal.

Kelly is the only one that can last.

Kelly is the most comercial of the three (except I don't buy her new Avril, fuck you, attitude). She's got an amazing voice, but she's not as artistic as Ruben or 'tasia.

Ruben is pretty cool, but I think he's kinda over. It's ironic too because season 2 probably had the strongest Top 12 overall.

Fantasia is the most talented of the three imo. Her voice gives me chills, especially her haunting renditions of "Sumertime" and "Purple Rain." But her popularity may be inhibited by the fact that she's probably not as "mainstream" as Kelly or Ruben. But we'll see :wink:

In terms of looks, it would be Kelly Clarkson. In terms of singing, well i dont know, but i think that Rueben is good.

Kelly has the advantage of being the most marketable...I love her voice, but I love tasias as well. Their voices are so different, but I think kelly is a little better. I think Kelly will stick around for awhile, and tasias album will prolly inch past a million...which isnt to bad. But tasia has that orignial voice, so i think she will be around for awhile as well

Wow!! People really loathe Rueben and Fantasia when compared to Kelly Clarkson even though they won their seasons. When they end the show they should have a competition for THE BEST of the American Idols or something like that.

Ruben- No. Sorry. He's just not very good.

Fantasia- she's great live, but a lot of what makes he so good live is lots in the studio. She's a superb vocalist, but she's nowhere near being a great artist. Yet. Hope to see some improvement in the upoming years.

Kelly Clarkson. Artistic direction, personality, voice...you name it. she has it. She's the best so far.

I know Kelly's great, but I can't believe that the vote is so loopsided. Obviously you guys don't recall Fantasia's devastating performance of "I Believe" - which clinched the competiton - or her equally fantastic rendition of "Purple Rain". Her voice is haunting and there's no doubt in my mind that she's at least as good as Kelly Clarkson.

And that's right, I was "the one" that voted for her.

Well, if I obviously can't remember her performances doesn't that speak volumes of how I felt about them at the time?

Memorable = Good. Forgettable...Not so much.

While I enjoyed Fantasia's perforamnces on the show, her first single,t he awful song penned by Tamaya Gray didn't inspire me to buy her cd.

I honestly have not heard a single song aside rom that one by Fantasia.

I did not like Clarkson's initail single either, but she had other songs which caught my attention later.

Fantasis is a great singer, but what she needs is a good song to sing.

I supported Ruben at the time, but I now realize he has absolutely no range and not much talent. Fantasia is talented, but nothing about her really stands out for me.

American Idol hasnt produced the same kind of star as the UK version, Uk has real fast burners too, sure, but our "Kelly Clarkston" is Will Young. I don't like him, but his musics far more grown up than you'd expect from a tv talent contest winner

Well from a popularity perspective, it's Kelly. But if you want to judge based on talent, Fantasia seems to be the winner for me.
